  1. yes

  2. yes...inbred utter nonces

  3. nah mate, its 'er 'usband init xx

  4. no they are a litte further out there then that

  5. No. The relationship is a little complicated, but each of them is the great great grandchild of Queen Victoria. The rule of thumb is that you count the "greats" (including "grand") and that is the cousin relationship. Hence they are 3rd cousins.

Someone else has suggested that they are 2nd cousins once removed. That is false since they would have to be descended from Edward Vll, whereas Philip is descended from Edwards sister. Also the "remove" would mean that they are a generation apart, clearly nonsense.

  6. I thinks so....he's a member of the greek royal family

  7. Beofre their relationship as husband and wife, Philip and Elizabeth were second cousins once removed.   The key is that Philip was Prince of Greece and Denmark at the time of his birth and it is the "and Denmark" bit that is relevant.

King Christian IX of Denmark had a son who became King of Greece as George I and his daughter married the UK kingdom, and was called Queen Alexandra.

George I had a son and he was called Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark.   He was a first cousin of  Alexandra's son George V, King of the UK.

Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark had a son called Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark and was the second cousin of George V's sons, Edward VIII and George VI.

Remember that Philip denounced his claims to the throne of Greece (extremely remote though they were) and was re-named Philip Mountbatten.   George VI had a daughter, known as Elizabeth and she is the current Queen of the UK.   Being the child of one of Philip's second cousin, she is thereby his second cousin once removed.

Some other answers may refer to their being third cousins.   This is because his mother Alice of Battenberg, was the daughter of Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine who was the daughter of Alice of the United Kingdom, a daughter of Queen Victoria.   As such Philip and his wife share Great-Great-Grand parents (Victoria and Albert) and so would be third cousins but for their closer relationship via their common descent from Christian IX.

    So..

    Christian IX

    George I        Alexandra          Siblings

    Paul               George V           First Cousins

    Philip             George VI          Second Cousins

Elizabeth            Second Cousin Once removed to her husband

  8. Prince phillip is married to the queen.

  9. The couple are second cousins once removed: they are both descended from Christian IX of Denmark – Elizabeth II is a great-great-granddaughter through her paternal great-grandmother Alexandra of Denmark, and the Duke is a great-grandson through his paternal grandfather George I of Greece. As well as second cousins once removed, the couple is third cousins: they share Queen Victoria as a great-great-grandmother. Elizabeth's great-grandfather was Edward VII, while Edward's sister Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine was the Duke's great-grandmother.

More interesting inbreeding from the British royal family:

    - Prince Charles of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are 9th cousins once removed. Prince Charles and Camilla are both descendents of Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle. Prince Charles' family history can be traced back to the Duke's elder daughter Margaret Cavendish, while Camilla's family tree leads to the Duke's younger daughter Catherine Cavendish.

    - Prince Charles of Wales and the late Diana, Princess of Wales are 16th cousin once removed. Diana was the illegitimate descendant of Charles II, while Charles is the legitimate descendant of James I of England, grandfather to Charles II.

    - Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York are also distant cousins.  On her father's side, Sarah is a descendant of King Charles II of England from two of his illegitimate sons. She is also a distant cousin of Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, an aunt of Queen Elizabeth II.

  10. Like The Queen, Prince Philip is a great-great-grandchild of Queen Victoria. The Queen and Prince Philip are also related through his father's side. His paternal grandfather, King George I of Greece, was Queen Alexandra's brother.

On 20 November 1947, Prince Philip married the heiress presumptive to the British throne, The Princess Elizabeth, eldest daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, his third cousin through Queen Victoria and second cousin, once-removed through Christian IX of Denmark.

    best of luck to you!

  11. no

  12. I thought that in addition to being a great great grandchild of Queen Victoria, Prince Philip was also related to Queen Alexandra, Queen Consort of Edward VIII. Queen Alexandra's brother who  became King of Greece was Philip's  Grandfather, which would make Queen Alexandra Philip's   Great Aunt and Her Majesty's Great Grandmother. Rather complicated! Incidentally, it is perfectly legal in the United Kingdom for first cousins to marry, therefore I don't know what the snide comments from some about 3rd cousins marrying is all about.

  13. So THAT is what's wrong with Prince Charles!

  14. He is her third cousin through Queen Victoria and second cousin, once removed through Christian IX of Denmark
