  1. prosciutto or Parma ham is a cured ham.  It is not a sausage like salami.  It is more like a Smithfield or Country ham than any salami.  It has a rich, deep sweet ham flavor balanced by saltiness and the richness of the fat.

I would not call it pungent or strong.  I would call it rich. A little goes a long way.

  2. No, prosciutto is a cured ham which is on the sweet and mild side and it's the thigh of the pig. Salami are different spices and garlic are used to give flavor. Prosciutto can be CRUDO or COTTO ("raw" or "cooked") and the best crudo are Prosciutto di Parma and Prosciutto di San Daniele. When these are cut thin they can melt in your mouth beautifully.

  3. Its very salty but really good wit olives rosted peppers and italian bread

  4. prosciutto isn't a salami, it's a ham that has been cured (litterally pressed salt), and then hung in a dry, cool room, the longer the ageing the better the proscitto, it's very expensive, but with a good piece of imported provolone, crusty bread, a tomatoe, little pepper, you have the best sandwich on earth.

  5. what prosciutto?? cotto..cooked  or crudo  raw-cured??

Salame is made from various cuts of raw pork, seasoned from herbs and wine, put in bag and left to dry, prosciutto is the upper leg of a pig seasoned with herbs, salt and left to dry.  Prosciutto is mild in taste, maybe more salty then salame.  Salame is tastefully herbs, pepper, wine and seasoned pork.  two distinct tastes..not to be consumed together, nor to be confused with one or another.   Like black forest ham and bung balogne...two different tastes

  6. definitely!

  7. Not in my Book!!!!!

Delicious with Melon!  Great grilled on the grill, wrapped around shrimp...no end to the uses...all super in my book!

  8. I think prosciutto is more mild than a genova salami.

I love prosciutto and salami together though on a sammy!
