Is Protestantism really "Catholic-Lite"?

  2. No, not all of Protestantism, mostly the liturgical Churches such as Episcopal etc. They have a lot of the "look" of the Catholic Church yet have none of the substance.  

  3. Well, the church of England, and a couple of others are kinda Catholic, but not Catholic at all, in the sense that they don't look to the Pope as the head of the church.  So yes some would be Catholic Lite

  4. Actually, it is specifically the Anglican/Episcopalian religion that many people (including Episcopalians and Anglicans themselves) call "Catholic-lite".  It is supposed to refer to the fact that the A/E church goes a little easier on the whole 'guilt' trip than the RCC does.

  6. Not all Protestantism, no. "Catholic lite" is usually applied to denominations like Anglicanism, Episcopalianism, or Lutheranism. Other denominations are quite far removed from Catholicism in some important ways, so that term doesn't apply to all Protestants.
