I've heard that Psoriasis in the vast majority of cases affects Caucasians, and that it is extremely rare, to non existent in Sub-Continental Asians. Is this true?

  1. No. Psoriasis affects people of all ages and races. While it has been observed that people from countries with 4 seasons have higher incidence of psoriasis than those living in tropical countries.

In colder countries, psoriasis can affect 3 to 7% of the population while people in tropical countries (no winter) has a prevalence of 1-3% of the general population.

Sun has been studied to be a good remedy for psoriasis and maybe that is why in hotter countries, the ratio of psoriasis is lower vis-a-vis the population than in countries with cooler climates. The UVB and PUVA are known treatment of psoriasis which were developed from these studies and observations

  2. The only thing I have ever heard about it is that if it's in your family somewhere, you run risk of it popping up for you. My poor Dad got it in his 20's and has gone to doctors, derms, and now he's trying a holistic approach which hopefully may help. His great grandfather had it and no one else in his family has, he got the crappy end of the genetic pool there I guess. I'm hoping I never get it!

  3. to be honest iv never heard this but if its like most think its got no preference  but as its cured by direct sun light i would think people in hot sunny climates would be OK ?
