I Ask This Because Someone Told Me That Blacks Lived In That Part Of Town,But I Had Trouble Believing Him Since Costa Rica Is 95% White/Mestizo.

  1. yep a lot of them are of jamaican descent.

  2. Limon province on the the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica has a large population of blacks, mainly of Jamaican descent, and some still speak English (or rather Jamaicanese).  They were brought over to build a railroad in the 19th century, because they were more resistant to malaria, and they stayed.  There are also white Costa Ricans on the coast as well.  The blacks for many years were not even allowed into the rest of Costa Rica.

I remember Limon was the only place in Costa Rica you couls buy size 13 shoes...

  3. Costa Rica is 94% (not 95%) White or Mestizo. Limón, the province which entirely borders the Caribbean, is very much Black. The majority of people there speak English and English-Creole. Also, the majority of people living in Limón are of Jamaican descent.

  4. yep, it's a former black colony, many haitians and dom reps went to limon. i'd say 90% is black
