    Polithically it is a unincorporated & organized territory of the United States of America.

  7. No. Puerto Rico is a caribbean island, it is southeast of Florida, east of Dominican Republic & West of the Virgin Islands.  It is not an idependent country, it is a commonwealth of the US. Puerto Ricans are all US citizens & USD is the currency in PR. However PR is a spanish speaking island b/c it was under Spains rule for a few hundred years. The people are a mixed race of Taino Indian, Spanish (white) & african.
