  1. I think it is fine for couples, but kids that don't appreciate and old old city will get bored. The old city is 500+ years old and is great to walk around, the Bacardi Rum plant has a free tour, there is an old fort in the city. That's it for the kids. A place like Riviera has 100 x's the sightseeing at far less $$$

  2. it depends what kind of adventure. there is the artificial theme parks adventure such as disney and universal studios or there is the nature natural outdoor kind of adventure. Puerto Rico has no theme parks like disney, but it sure does have alot of nature things, such as caves (cool bats in them), forests, rivers, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, desert (isla mona or southern part of the island).

I recommend el yunque and the sister islands culebra en vieques for those who love camping.

  3. You can go to el Yunque.

  4. Heck yeah!

El Yunque has hiking trails that lead to waterfalls at the top:

    Then there's zipline tours:

And let's not forget the beautiful bio-bays!!!

My husband and I are going to puerto rico, and definitely doing most of this stuff...

I bet you will all have lots of fun!

Word of advice: Avoid staying in San Juan... It's a touristy place, and not the best attribute of the island...

Don't get me wrong, it's worth it to go visit the fort and the sights at least a day or two, but if you can, stay in a more rural area, preferably close to a beach...

I've heard Dorado is nice, I used to live in Aguada and Aguadilla, it was really great... Arecibo.. Anywhere in the coastline... other than San Juan itself...

  5. Puerto Rico has something for everyone!  We have every kind of adventure that you could want and more.

Hiking galore in any of the many forest (both rainforests and dry forests and places in between).  All over the island.

There are caves to explore in the NW area.

Scuba, Snuba, and snorkeling.  Surfing too!

Swimming in oceans, lakes and  under waterfalls.

ATV , zip line, hang gliding, and air plane jumps.

Horse back riding, bicycle rides along oceanfront boardwalks.

There is the BioBays- via kayak or boat trip. The best in the world!

All day adventure trips- which include rappeling and mountain climbing.

Sailing, motorboats, jet skis, banana boat rides.

Deep sea fishing and lake fishing.

And much more!  I am sure I forgot a bunch of fun stuff!

And that doesn't start to touch on the history, culture, casinos, nightlife, or food and drinks of the island....
