  1. There is no easy answer to this question.Puerto Vallarta is a lovely city.My advice would be to first try living there for awhile renting a home or apartment in an area you think that you might liketo live.I have lived in several different places in Mexico over the years and have enjoyed each of them for different reasons.

There are some big, some would say huge, differences between living in the US or Canada and living in Mexico and some people simply can't adjust to them. You may find after an extended stay in PV that you don't really like it as much as you thought you would but that doesn't mean that there isn't another place in Mexico that you would like better.

Another thing that makes the transition to another country easier is to have a working knowledge of the language. So many times I have had to listen to another gringo whine about being overcharged, ignored, mistreated or taken advantage of by someone because they were a foreigner. The real reason is,in most cases, is 'not' because they were a foreigner, but rather it is that they never took the time to read about and understand the culture in Mexico and also never bothered to learn more than a dozen words in Spanish. The Mexican people are some of the most gracious people I have ever met anywhere in the world. These two incredibly simple things can make such a difference to how you are accepted and treated in Mexico whether you move there permanently or just vacation there once or twice a year....As a bonus, these same two simple things will also allow you to visit and/or live anywhere in any Spanish speaking country you want and also,in most cases, to get the same price that a local would get, saving you both time, frustration and money.

Hope this helps and feel free to email me if you have any questions...Suerte!

  2. I would love to move to P.V.  Very beautiful.  When we were there in May, there were more Canadians than Americans living there.  At least that is the conclusion I came to.
