Is Putin a total nutcase or what?

Getting no sympathy from Europe or Asia for his adventurism in Georgia, Putin then claims the conflict was a plot by American chickens!

The man is positively psychotic.

  1. I am not a supporter of Mr Putin but Pres Bush should not be surprised if Russia hit back at the US. It was Bush that ordered warships of the Georgian coast with "aid" and support. It was Bush who decided to put a missile base in Poland He has spent the last few months stirring up an ants nest with the Russians now he has to explain to the American chicken farmers the reasons for his hasty actions, something I think he will find it difficult to do.

  2. Putin made Russia a stable country at a time when it was failing.

They have never had to borrow a penny from another country to do it and they owe no one anything....Crazy...I don't think so!

Crazy would be Bush and the way he has run down our country and borrowed millions from China...remember that check you got from the government for the economy...that was money borrowed from China!

and what goes on behind closed doors with politicians..we will never know the whole truth!

  3. Well, you pretty much destroy your own credibility by calling Putin names, no one remains in charge of a major power if they are a nutcase. The US's role in getting Saashkavili into power, arming him to the teeth, and encouraging him to deal with Ossetia and Abkhazia with force is indisputable. That doesn't make it America's fault, but Bush certainly played a big role in setting up this situation.

And if you don't like the opinions expressed by your fellow Americans, you are the one who  doesn't understand what freedom means, and should consider moving to  country where people are not allowed to disagree with their government's propaganda. Clearly you would feel a lot more at home there.

Are you even aware of what it was like for Abkhazians and Ossetians to live under Georgia's boot?

  4. The  Russians  are  not  forgetting  who  kicked  them  out  of  Afghanistan. The  talban,  with  the help  of  American  money  and  CIA  spies.  I  just  wonder  why  North  Korea  is  off  the  'wanted  list'?  Why  i  mention  Korea  is  that  America  is  trying to  take  on  the  world,  and  is  losing.  Don't  worry  there'll  be another  'enemy'  along  soon!

  5. Was Russia right to enter Georgia, I don't know.  Was it right to leave South Ossetia, absolutely not.  Is Putin off his nut, no.  He is a de facto dicatator who is calling america out for its use of military intervention, cough undeclared wars cough, in the past in order to build a sphere of influence.

Russian troops are still in Georgia probibily because they are expecting an attack.  Holding Poti, a port city, prevents the west form landing military aid into Geogria by effectively funneling any relief efforts into controllable areas.  Russia has effective air superiority there, so air delivery is impossible.  I'll admit that is a guess.

What is Russia really up to?  Only time will tell.  The difference is with Moldovia and Ukraine they won't have the convenient excuses of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

    And in passing...

"What right did Russia have to destroy the rest of Georgia?" How many dozens of countries could ask that about us I wonder?

While I'm not sure how trustworthy this site is, it kind of puts US military use in perspective.

  6. Russia is a police state. Putin vanished human rights, made election farce, imprisoned or killed his adversaries.  He's running his country like a mafioso. The current Russian president was hanpicked by Putin, and was elected in an almost no-contest election.

So how could you take at face-value the word of a dictator?

What the Georgians did in S. Osetia was to reclaim their sovereignty over its own territory recognized by the world, even Russia.  Like what Puttin did when Chechnya declared independence.  His campaign in Chechnya was even bloodier.  His only true purpose in invading Georgia was to showcase to smaller nations around him not to embrace west if they want to avoid the wrath of Russia.  Russia is now even threatening Moldova of invasion should Moldova reclaim a province acting as a de facto independent.

You people should see the bigger picture of PUtin's adventurism!  He doesn't love S. Ossetians more than he hates West!

  7. No. Putin is a cold and calculating former KGB communist. He is very tough and desperately wants the USSR back. He is backed by other communist hardliners and by the Russian mafia.

  8. It's not just Putin but the whole world. Georgia would never have dared attack S.O. without the backing of US.

Some countries in Europe have raised concerns but Asian countries rather than condemning are with Russia. For what they call hypocrisy of the West. Latin American countries, other Asian countries many have stated support for Russia, and finally meaning end of US hyperpower.

The news about China rebuking is nothing more than blatant exaggeration. Why didn't Bush get any support then??? China is worried about their own regions ie Tibet but certainly have no sympathy for Georgia.

“These regions are a part of Georgia, and the international community has repeatedly made clear that they will remain so. There’s no room for debate on this matter.”

    ~ (Bush) – 16/08/08

So where is this international community?

  9. He who laughs last, laughs loudest. This time will be Russia, not Uncle Sam Because he is too old, too weak, too poor, too disoriented ,.... to achieve anything.

  10. yeah he has just lost all sanity if possible after saying we started the battle when there tanks went in and attack Georgia. He is just trying to restore glory to Russia and so far the whole world is against it. I think the guy needs to calm down, apologize to us for his latest outburts and start the peace process for Georgia. He can be a good leader for Russia but this is not the way to do it.
