Putin has claimed the assault launched by Georgia on South Ossetia was a ploy to attract votes for John McCain. Now we do know that there were indeed 1000 US military trainers and advisors in Georgia but they left just one week before Georgia started the assault. We also know that Bush and Condi Rice have made a huge fuss over this incident - which far outweighs it's significance. We also know that Bush has been inconsistent over this matter - endorsing Kosovo's independence - but against South Ossetia's independence. And we also know it is pure hypocrisy to criticise Russia invading Georgia for a fortnight - when US has taken part in a much larger invasion of Iraq - and remained there for 5 years. We also know that McCain's chief foreign policy advisor has been paid over $100,000 by Georgia to lobby for their interests.Seems to me that Putin might be onto something. And he's not the only one - Pat Buchanan is also questioning what Bush is up to in Georgia.
