  1. Yes, they are very distant, distant distant relatives. The current Queen Elizabeth II is not a direct descendant of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is related to Queen Elizabeth I through King James I of England (James IV of Scotland). He was the son of Mary of Scot, who was the granddaughter of Princess Margaret, Elizabeth I's elder aunt. Queen Elizabeth II is a descendant of King James I of England (James IV of Scotland) through his eldest daughter, Princess Elizabeth Stuart, whose youngest daughter was Electress Sophia of Hanover, who married a German Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Their son, George eventually inherited the crown of England, Scotland and Ireland as George I of Great Britain. He was the great-great-great...grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II.

  2. not directly, but back in history through marriage

    they were related.

  3. No she's not. Elizabeth 2 is a Windsor and Elizabeth 1 was a tudor I think. And before you say that the name changed through marriage, no. A royal women HAS to keep her maiden name.

  4. Yes but very distantly related. They were from different  royal families. Elizabeth I was from the Royal House of Tudors (1533-1603), Elizabeth II is from the Windsor house (1926-present).

The roman numerals after their names do not indicate that they were from the same family, they just indicate the number of Queens in power of that name.

  5. This is the most difficult question I have ever heard. Yet, I did some research. Queen Elizabeth I is the granddaughter of King Henry VII. Queen Elizabeth II is the great great ...... great granddaughter of King Henry VII also. This is in short.

If you have time, Queen Elizabeth II is the daughter of King George VI, who is the son of King George V, who is the son of King Edward VII, whose mother is Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria's father is Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent, his father is King George III, who is the son of Frederick, Prince of Wales, who is in turn the son of King George II who is the son of King George I. King George I's mother is Sophia, Countess Palatine of Simmern, who is the daughter of Elizabeth Stuart, whose father is James I of England (and VI of Scotland), who is the son of James V of Scotland, whose mother is Queen Mary of Scotland. Queen Mary's father is James V of Scotland, whose mother, Margret Tudor, is the daughter of Henry VII.

    Complicated, Isn't it?

  6. No. Queen Elizabeth I didn't have any children.

  7. Im pretty sure so,

  8. I don't know......I think they are.....I'm not sure.....they might be

  9. they are not related i had to do a boring long essay saying everything about her

  10. No, actually they aren't

they take the reginal names Elizabeth and Elizabeth II just because they were named that at birth.

the reason they are not related is because the King of England was given to the Elector of Hanover, thus they brought the line of Hanover to the UK, ending with Queen Victoria, then followed by the house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, that was only one king, i forget his name, but son of Queen Victora, then his son made it the house that it is today, the house of Windsor, which Queen Elizabeth II is currently the head of.

    got it? :)

  11. they're distant cousins, but of course they're related.

  12. distantly--cousins.  Elizabeth's 1st cousin would have been James V of Scotland.  James V's grandson was James VI of Scotland/I of England, and Elizabeth II is that James' many times great granddaughter (9--if I counted it right).

    James I

    Elizabeth

    Sophia

    George I

    George II

    George III

    Edward, Duke of Kent

    Victoria

    Edward VII

    George V

    George VI

    Elizabeth II

(I skipped over brothers & whatnot, so not every monarch is mentioned)

  13. Yes. but very distant. Remember. Queen Elizabeth 1 did not have any heirs so the crown went to her Scottish cousin King James.

  14. yes, they were distance cousins.  It steams from James I of england and scotland, the son of mary, queen of scots.  He had two children, a girl and a boy, and when the son's side didn't bear any more children, they went to the daughter's heirs.  Kindof like going from Charles boys to Andrew's sons. :)

  15. Yes.  And they don't have last names, by the way, which makes it harder to research than you would expect.  Their names are "Queen Elizabeth of Windsor", for example.  Their last name is the place that they rule.

Hope this wasn't too long for you.  You're going to do really well in college if one paragraph makes you tired.

  16. Yes they are related. They are distant cousins through James I. It is a very thin bloodline that relates the two but they are related.
