I am looking to feed our daughter something a little more nutrient dense than baby rice and think quinoa would be perfect. I have read conflicting things on the net about when to start a baby on Quinoa - some say 6 months some say 12 months. I have the flakes and have ground them down with a mortar and pestle and hope to try feeding it to her soon mixed with some breast milk. Has anyone else fed quinoa to a 6 month old baby?

  1. Yes. I fed both my daughters quinoa at six months as well as other whole grains. I followed the diet in this AWESOME book, super baby food by RuthYaron. She tells how to first make it into a powder in the blender and cook in on the stove.

At six months babies have the proper enzymes in their stomachs to digest whole grains. Both my girls really liked quinoa, and now at an older age they are great eaters.

    best of luck.

  2. as long as they are ground I see no problem with it at all. I kudos you for waiting the 6 months to feed solids and not feeding rice cereal. You are definetly doing the best for your little one.

  3. Yes. Another great grain is millet, also to be ground first. You can ground manually, or in blender or coffee grinder. a good website www.wholesomebabyfood.com and a good book Super Baby Food
