  1. More or less....yes.

Both of them are perfectly legal so the word "scheme" may not be appropriate but both entail trying recruit others below you and a fast majority of people lose money.

  2. No they are not.

Pyramid schemes are illegal in the United States.  Of course, that doesn't mean people don' try.  There are a lot of misconceptions with that term.  The thing to remember is a pyramid scheme doesn't have any products or services involved.  They typically ask for money to join and reward you for getting others to join and pay money with out any product or service provided.  Quixstar and ACN have products or services for sale and use recruitment of other individuals to expand thier sales force and customer base.

I am not in multi-level marketing and a lot of people  have bad opinions of that industry but I personally see it as the only way an individual can truly start a part-time business with any chance of success.  Most of the legal, logistical, and support issues are taken care of by the MLM company so all you have to do is concentrate on making money and recuitment.

If you are considering any of these companies, the number one thing want to know is what kind of support and training do they have?  The products they sell are really secondary as long as they are not selling trash or making outlandish claims.

    Good luck.

  3. Consider the following:

If Quixstar is so great a business than why doesn’t everyone do it?

If everyone does it at the same time it will not work.

So as long as all your friends join in after you, it will work for you.
