Is Quixtar/Amway a scam?

my friend got into it a few months ago and he says i should join the team.. but i wonder if this is a scam or a legit business Opportunity

It is a legitimate business, but in order to "become a part of the team" you will need to pay for your products and market them yourself.  If you are a good sales person and have lots of contacts who would be willing to buy from you consistently, then you can make money with them.  Otherwise, you're going to spend a lot of your own money and bug the S***e out of friends and family to buy from you.

Amway/Quixtar does have some good products...I have a cleaning solution my landlady gave me for my wood floors and furniture, and it works fabulously!  However, I don't work for this company and am stingy with my hard-earned cash.

You have to realize it's a business, and any business you start is going to have some financial investment.  You cannot, I repeat, cannot start a business with NO capitol, and you cannot earn 12 million dollars a month working part-time from home on your PC.  Amway/Quixtar is MLM (multi-level marketing) so those at the top make more money, but it is possible to earn some cash with them...you just have to work at it, and work hard.  There are several scams out there...be especially cautious of any business that wants to charge to train you.  Check out this website: http://www.ripoffreport.com; it is an invaluable resource that has thousands of reports on file by consumers who have been ripped off.

They are just another scam where you and your poor friends are the only customers.  The more people you lure into that, the more resentments you will get eventually.  Possibly 1 out of 1,000 can make money.  There are lot of former victims testimony on the web you can check out.
