Is Rafael Nadal the best ever on clay, or was Borg better?

Its virtually impossible to say, almost 2 completely different games. However, both were awesome according to their style. Borg retired too soon. That was a shame for tennis. I say play till you fall over.  

And btw, Nadal is hotter.

Nadals topspin and power against Borgs flat shots.

Nadals Babolat racket against Borgs wooden one.

It's not a fair contest at all.  But if you take Borg in his prime, "as is" wooden racket etc. and put him against Nadal like he was playing these 2 weeks.  The score will be even more one-sided for Nadal than against Federer in the final.

They are both from completely different eras and the standard of tennis has improved. For me, Nadal is the best ever on clay. Borg was amazing at the time but if could Nadal beat Borg when he was at his best? I think so. Borg played at a time when not many top players knew how to play on clay. It is hard to compare because of the different eras but yeah Nadal has to be better.

Rafa's dad,in an interview on Eurosport TV,said that Borg still has the better record (6 RG titles in all) as well as his Wmbdn titles!

However,I saw the amazing Borg play in his prime and, good as he was, I don't think he ever pulled off what we saw  Rafa do yesterday at RG!! I do not believe that I will ever again see a player playing at as near perfection level as a human being can get . At the time,I didn't even realise what I was witnessing and i thought that it was because Federer was playing horribly. he wasn't. It may not have been the best ever Federer but the guy wa playing a game that would have won him the match against any other opponent. The marvel of yesterday was not that fed was playing so badly but that rafa was playing so sublimely.

So,for now,while Borg has the better record,I would say that the best clay game ever played was played yesterday by Nadal, in Paris,at RG 2008! We saw tennis history!

Well, when Nadal beats all of Borg's records then he will be considered 'Best Ever'.  

I have to give it to Nadal, though.  He looked absolutely fabulous...the entire tournament!  Nobody could touch him!  Just an awesome display of tennis, and I'm not even a fan of his!  Wow!

The article was very well written.  I think that Rafael Nadal is the best ever on Clay but as far as the tennis historians go that will come later such as if he were to win 6 straight French Open titles.

I believe it is Nadal that is better, because he has the serve, forehand, and backhand.  Borg is also good, but we have to seem them play each other to find out.

Well that is a very hard question to answer but I have to go with Bjorn Borg because he retired right in the middle of his prime which was in his 20's. I mean how do we know he couldn't have won 6 or 7 straight french opens.
