  1. Can you give us some set of metrics to use to measure hard and harder?  My wife knows the difference but we've been married for 37 years.  She opts for harder but settles for whatever, I think.

  2. i could tell ya, but then i'd have to kill ya

  3. I'd say yes.  In every way.  But, it is an apples and orgages comparison.  I'd also say that infantry basic training at the Infantry Training Brigade at Fort Benning is as hard as Marine Corps Basic, but I'm not an unbiased source.  I expect that a half dozen pissed-off marines and marine wanna-bees will start posting obnoxious e-mails right about...now.

  4. Ranger Training is not basic training. LAVADOG is right, there is no comprison. You have guys who've already been trained to a certain point, going on to take Ranger Training. USMC boot camp takes total civilians and molds them from that, so it's pretty difficult for some, and so the step up to Ranger Training from Army basic training may not be as hard for some.

Special Opps training is not "a training", it depends on the opps. You have special opps guys from all branches of the service and any other place, depending on their roll the training is quite different. You have planes, boats, helo, subs crews who take part, all kinds of opperatives and all kinds of differing needs in different opps. You have guys sitting thousands of miles away looking at information on a screen. You have people who gather intel from the site of the opps and helping lay out plans mark targets and coordinate cooperative forces, who no one ever knows was there. You have guys supporting them. It's very diverse and involved. You have many more people with more roles than could even be fit here, so "special opps training"? How about "doing fun and not so fun stuff training" for civilians? It makes about as much sense, lol.

  5. Yes, Ranger and Special Forces training is harder. d**n do you guys think before you ask a stupid question? (I assume NOT) Ranger and Special Forces is not an entry level position. Why do all you guys out there think that the Marines are so hardcore? They really aren't. Get a life and do some d**n research. Marines have not, are not, and will not ever be considered a special operations force. They're just another branch of service out there. Wake up and open those eyes.

  6. Where do people keep coming up with these questions....jesus...

  7. You cant compare the two because the purpose of the two are not the same thing..

We need to stop these silly comparisons between this and that..Dont you realize these questions are and always will be answered with emotion instead of truth..

Why would you compare it to USMC boot camp? Why not compare it to MARSOC ??Why not compare USMC boot camp to Army basic? Come on now..lets use common sense..

  8. Boot Camp (or Basic Training) in any branch of the military is for transitioning from civilian to military life. If you are not familiar with the basics, then you would never make it in any special ops, Ranger, or even supply or cook school.
