  1. I've been in the restaurant business for years and you don't want to work at a corporate place like Red Lobster.  The food quality is very low.  Get a job at a locally owned restaurant.... you'll thank yourself for it.

  2. My friend worked there.  He loved it at first, but quickly got tired of long hours with low tips and low pay.

  3. If the staff you are going to learn from is well informed and knows how to instruct new employees..you are in good shape. As a contractor.. "Red Lobster" is never questioned.

  4. 1st off, I'm going to have to disagree with Legends14. Corporate restaurants are great places  to work! Money will always be steady there since they're very well known.

Red Lobster is a great place to work. Of course, many people who have actually worked there will have bias opinions due to a mean boss, stupid co-workers, working in a bad area, etc.

Since this is your 1st serving job, you'll be taking the tips home and getting your hourly paycheck bi-weekly. Like all restaurants, there will be a small tip-out for the bar, food runners, and the silverware roller. Generally, total tip out is anywhere from 5-6% of your sales or 2% of your tips. This is a small price to pay because nobody likes having to roll silverware, it's the worst job ever.

Red Lobster is very well known, and it's liked my many or else they wouldn't be in business. In my opinion, it's a great place to work at. Besides, who doesn't like their complimentary cheddar biscuits?

  5. Most people love Red Lobster. the food is frozen but, the service is awsome! Love to have a waiter that is confident in his  knowledge of the menu. Smile and keep asking to refill the drinks or the totally awsome biscuits. You can make BIG money if you learn the menu, and be a smiley waiter. If you keep checking the table, your tip will go way up!

  6. I work at a RL and I have for about 4 years.  At our store, some people have worked there since they opened... 16 years ago.

It is not a bad place to work by any means.  With it being a corporate place they have rules that don't always make sense, but depending on where you live, your gm may not abide by all of them all the time.  That is about some of the only gripes that I have; the little thing "big bosses" make up.

Good parts of it is the money that you can make.  Not many people can say they work a 9 hour day and leave with 200 dollars in their pocket.  Fyi- this was a Saturday for us when it was busy.  Depending on your area it could be more or less.  I work at one  that's not in a large area.  Ones near bigger cities are always busier and you make more money.
