  1. In moderation of  course.  Wine or alcohol may act like a blood thinner may reduce some blood clots. Aids in digestion. You could ask the clerk, what  brand of  wine is best but inexpensive.   Cheers

  2. Mostly myth. Since the French drink lots of wine and have a diet high in saturated fat, they use wine as the explanation of the French paradox. Since we now know that saturated fat has nothing to do with cholesterol, it is no longer a paradox. My personal theory was that they had to take aspirin almost daily for the hangover. I no longer believe in taking aspirin but that is another story.

  3. Although many organizations say it maybe helpful with moderate drink as long as blood pressure is under control.

AHA doesnt approve red wine as prevention for coronary diseases or replace convention aspirine and recommend 4oz a day for women.

  4. This is a question that is open to debate. But many experts agree that red wine, in moderation, can be good for heart health. See http://www.smart-heart-living.com/red_wi...

As for what wine to buy, that's a matter of taste preference. If you're unfamiliar with wines the only way to know for sure is to taste some. A lot of Chilean reds are good, yet fairly inexpensive... as are some Argentinian varieties. You could also ask at a reputable wine store for some recommendations... you might even get to taste some!
