(remember that Fretilin may be a bit fratricidal)

"I will not surrender any time soon. I may never even surrender. Our leaders do not want me to surrender. They want me dead," Reinado told Reuters by telephone.

Certainly someone seemed to want Reinado dead in May 2006.

On Liz Jackson’s documentary, he was peaceably minding his own business, and Taur Matan Ruak’s troops approached, presumably to shoot him. The troops had no bona fide reason to be approaching him.

It hasn’t yet been disclosed who dispatched the troops.

It would be very significant if it was Colonel Lere Anan Timor.

Incidentally, are people scared shitless of Colonel Lere Anan Timor ? I haven’t seen much mention of him lately. (Wouldn't be surprised though if he pops up at UN meetings to decide what to do about Reinado - I wonder if he is a main driver)
