Question:

Is Rex Grossman being allowed to fail on purpose, to distract people from the Bears' real problems?

Namely, that they have an idiot for an offensive coordinator, and a terrifically cheap owner.

I'm a little exasperated at all the people who seem to think that the Bears' only problem is at quarterback. Until this last offseason, there were still Cedric Benson fans, for cryin' out loud! It seems that everyone is in agreement that Rex Grossman is the worst quarterback in the world, but few people seem to have noticed that the Bears only call about 5 different plays. The play calls aren't Rex's fault.

Then it struck me; what if this is all done on purpose? What if the owners of the Bears, or possibly even Lovie Smith himself, is creating a situation where the QB, who is in the glamour position that is bound to take all the blame anyway, they make the QB out to be even worse, so that way all the pressure is off of them to win. That way, no one complains about the Bears' failing management, because they're too busy burning Rex in effigy!

Conspiracy theory? Buy, or sell?

  1. As a Bears fan I loved your theory. It was quite entertaining and could very well be possiable, but in reality I don't think it is.

Yet I too get annoyed by those fans who seem to think this way. I think Rex realizes what he has to work with on this team and wants to succeed with it anyway.

Many (not all) Bears fans boo Rex and take their fustration out on him, but I don't think Lovie and Jerry Angelo do.

I think the coaches want to see Rex succeed, but are too stupid to realize in order for that to happen you need to

    -get an O-line

    -get playmaking WRs

    -establish a running game

    -work to Rex's strenghts

    - & last fire Ron Turner!

I think if Rex can win this job he will have a solid season because he is smart and has learned from playing in the Bears system which offensively isn't that great of a system.

  2. If true, then that is a very well thought plan, but that would be stupid why not get a good qb in the first place?

I dont know perhaps lovie smith is a ex-viking coach in disguise making the bears suck on purpose becasue he hates them.

  3. thats the stupidest idea, points for creativity but grossman sucks
