I've been thinking about going to Virginia Commonwealth University but from what I heard, Richmond isn't a safe place to live. If you have any experience or know anything about Richmond, please let me know. Thank you!

  1. You might not know that  anyplace can be dangerous or safe, depending largely on how you behave and who you hang out with.  I suspect that the uninformed person who said it isn't safe is judging it based on reports of racial tension in DC.

  2. hey vcu where the girls are girls and so are the guys

  3. My son went to VCU and it is fine. It is like any city , you need to be aware of your surroundings and do not travel alone at night. If you are in college it will be very rare that you are alone at any time. Enjoy it . Richmond is in a great location as far as near to DC, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg. There is so much around that area.

  4. I live in Northern Virginia - not Richmond.  Richmond is like any other big city - it has its good neighborhoods and its bad neighborhoods.

However, because you are considering attending college there - check out VCUs website.  They have have information on campus life, life off campus and safety and VCU.  The college is your first choice for learning more about where you may be living.

  5. like in any city, there are its good and bad places to live.  i was in alexandria, and its a nice town but with bad areas. theres a big party at Richmond speedway, so thats all good eh????
