Yeah, I think Federer will remain #1 this year because Nadal has too many points to defend especially with the clay season here. Novak Djokovic will remain #3 this year aswell! The only way i see Rafa snatching the #1 spot from Federer is if he continues to dominate the clay season (Roger would aslo have to lose pretty early in the upcoming tournaments, to lose points) Nadal would also have take it a step further this year and win Wimbledon (Roger would have to lose pretty early in that one aswell) So all in all its pretty impossible to dethrone the Fedster this year, who knows tennis is funny old game. I do wish Nadal would end the year as #1 but if im being honest its a chance in a million just now. We`ll have to wait and see eh Nina :P :) So your man will remain #1 !!!

yeah, unfortunately..

but not for long!

there are 2 Grand Slams coming up and he isn't going to win either of them,

so he'll have to get used to the number two ranking pretty soon.

He is still number 1, but he has to work hard to keep his position this year. Since he did not have a great start this year, he did not gain much points, but he still has a lead of 1000 points over Rafa who is in the second position. I am sure Roger is aware of this and will do everything to keep his position safe and secure. Go Rogi !

As far as ranking points which is based on 52 weeks, Roger Federer is still the world no. 1.

But for the 2008 race which is based on tournaments played for the current year only, Federer is no. 3, so far.  But, he will be no. 1 soon, even in the race.

in the ATP rankings he is number 1 but that is more due to his performance last year.

as for the ATP race that gives u points for every match u win in the present year federer is ranked 3rd behind djokovic and nadal.

for all practical purposes since the rankings are considered he is no.1.

ABSOLUTELY! Federer is to phenomenal a player and he's recovering from that bout with mono and he's playing much better, but even with the mono he was still going very far in tournaments, but he definitely looks better. Unlike what Djokovics family says, the king is not dead.

Only on the computer rankings. He's 0-4 in major tournaments this year with one minor tournament win in Estoril. Meanwhile Nadal, Davydenko, and Djokovic each have a Masters title. Djokovic also has a slam.

Federer's points are mostly based on how well he did last year.
