  1. Rafa is looking shaky. He definitely doesn't have the confidence that he has on clay. When he's on clay, there's not a single worry line on his forehead. On H/C he looks worried and yells at the ref etc etc

  2. I used to think Rafa could only win on clay, but he's proved the world wrong.  Rafa will overtake Roger as #1 in the next 2 years.

Frankly, as a tennis fan, I'm glad.  As classy as Roger is, it gets sickening for a player to go unchallenged as long as he did when he has so much skill.  To hear Roger occupy himself with imaginary matches against Borg or Rod Laver was getting to be too much.

Nadal's emergence as a threat to Roger on all surfaces makes men's tennis exciting again.

  3. I don't think Roger is going to be able to beat Nadal badly because Nadal is pretty skilled and it is tough to defeat the #2 player in the world especially since Nadal won Roland Garros and Wimbledon.  I think Roger will beat Nadal at Cincinatti in order to maintain his No. 1 ranking.

  4. Ofcourse not ! Rafael Nadal is an amazing player he is definitely the number one player in the world right now and i cant wait until he overtakes Roger, he deserves it by far. Can Federer make a comeback? Hmm ofcourse he is still Roger Federer but can he beat Nadal badly?! Like the way Rafa destroyed him at the French, then id say No, Rafa is just too talented and he is in federer`s mind now even more sooo than the last couple of years. Nadal has been right at the top of the rankings with Federer ever since he joined the tour he`s been breathing down Rogers neck, something all the other players have failed to do, Nadal is the only player who is consistent enough to take Fed down. His head to head score shows that :) :P woo ! Rafa for #1 !!!

Can Roger win the US Open ? He`s one of the favourites and theres no reason he cant also that surface suits him very well its faster than most hardcourts, he`ll be hungry for another grandslam and try his best to maintain his #1 ranking whatever happens its sure to be an exciting tournament.

  5. with rafa's current form & confidence & his consistency over the years, he definitely deserves to be #1 not #2. He'd have achieved that much earlier had it not been for roger. but it's now roger's way down & nadal's way up. much as i admire federer & love to watch his sublime graceful play (rafa has some seriously annoying rituals & antics on court tho' he's pretty modest & charming offcourt) he's passing his prime. and nadal will be #1 in just a few weeks if he wins just a couple of the hard court tournaments.

  6. I don't think so... In recent months it seems that Fed has lost his magic and Nadal found his. Unless Fed improves big time I don't think he will hold on to that no. 1 ranking for long.

  7. I'm not sure if Roger can beat Rafa badly right now. Rafa is on fire, winning his last 5 tournaments, and 29 straight matches. That includes two grand slams.

Roger can Rafa but it will take some work and it would most likely be a pretty close match.

There is no doubt that Rafa is currently the best player in the world. If he continues to win through the summer, he will deserve the number 1 ranking.

  8. At the moment, I see Rafa the way I have seen Roger for the past few years - unbeatable, certain to make the finals in all the tournaments.

Roger, on the other hand, is definitely in a slump.  While it MAY be partly because he's "aging" and "getting tired", there's probably some sort of a personal reason behind it (we can only speculate).  But, like someone else said, he is still Roger Federer, one of the most talented tennis players to ever live.  Hopefully, he resolves his personal issues and gets back to his A game.

Yes, Rafa is in Roger's head right now, probably like he's been in Roger's head for the past couple of years.  Rafa may take away the number ranking from him, possibly in the next couple of months.  The good news?  Then the pressure's off!  Then Roger will be chasing instead of getting chased.  That may be the best thing to ever happen to him when he goes up against Rafa.

Can he beat Rafa badly?  Probably not.  Rafa is just way too fast and way too accurate and way too mentally tough.  And, I think he deserves the number 1 spot right now because he really is outplaying everyone else!  But Roger will have his day again.

  9. i wish it happens

  10. yeah i think rafa will lose the us open to roger because he is really angry about losing wimbledon. he will win but that doesn't mean rafa will give it to him. federer still deserves #1 till rafa can pass him, but rafa still has done amazing

  11. No, because of several reasons: Rafa's playing really  well right now & has the self belief to win anything ; he's also improving with every match,  and has such a close family support network .

  12. There is no way Federer can beat Nadal badly. He can win, that's for sure, but it's gona be very tight. And even if he beats Rafa in finals of US,he will still lose No.1 because he is defending champion and Rafa only got to quarterfinals last year.I can't wait for Nadal to finaly take No.1 spot.He totally deserves it.

  13. No. for several reasons.

    1. Rafa deserves number 1- hes 1 in the ATP race and hes on fire.

    2. Roger lacks some serious confidence at the mo. Whilst I still think he will be feeling confident against Djokovic, when he faces Nadal he will be nervous as h**l.

    3. Nadal is too good to get beaten badly.

However I still think Fed is a better hard court (and even grass court) player... just not right at the moment.
