  1. It used to be in Essex.. Now the London Borough of Havering . It has an RM post code. An address for Royal Mail should say Romford RM and then the rest of the post code . Essex or London are not part of the address and should not be used.

    Romford ceased to be in Essex in 1965 when the London Borough of Havering was formed.

    It is now part of greater london.

    In terms of the address  the details that need to be there are ..

    House number    Street

    Romford   (Postal Town)

    RM9  9XX  (Post Code)

    If you put Essex  and or London it will be ignored so feel free to put what you like !

  4. As others have said, counties no longer form part of any address. Romford addresses are formatted as this one, which is for the local council:

    Havering London Borough Council

    Main  Road

    ROMFORD

    RM1 3BD

    Only 40% of Greater London includes "LONDON" as the post town in the postal address.

    Sewardstone in Essex is an anomoly and has "LONDON" in the address, but is outside Greater London.

    Depends where you live within the post code.

    Some have Essex water most Met Water

    Police used to be Essex but they are now Londonish--

    Rates go to Havering and Livingstone.

    Register Office is Havering Langtons.

    Hospital are Barking and Havering with intermixing.

    Everyone controls no one is responsible.
