Is Ronaldinho back in the Brazilian team?
Knowing and watching legendary striker Ronaldinho is common knowledge who used to make people fall in love with football every time he ventured onto a football pitch. The Brazilian is the only player who has been awarded with the Player of the Year award on two consecutive occasions and there are no other players in the world who come even come close of breaking this record.
Ronaldinho emerged during an era when players like Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Maldini, Fabio Cannavaro and Roberto Carlos had already carved a niche for themselves. Despite intense competition, this Brazilian still managed to top them all and win the Player of the Year award.
One cannot forget the sadness that the Brazilian fans went through when they did not hear Ronaldinho’s name when Coach Dunga penned down Brazil’s South Africa bound World Cup squad. It was a noted fact that the former Brazilian captain and the new coach of Brazil had some personal issues with the AC Milan winger – which proved to ample reason for him to be dropped. It was simply saddening how such a great player was not taken to South Africa to help his team out and it was probably the last time that he would even perform for his country during a World Cup and such an opportunity was simply “snatched” away from him.
The Barcelona star started his career from the Brazilian club Gremio but after three seasons, he inked a deal with Paris Saint-Germain FC. For the next two years, Ronaldinho performed for the new club but did not really manage to settle down just like he did in the last club. The football magician was then taken in by Spanish giants Barcelona and it is noted that the deal with the English club Manchester United was almost complete. However, it was the Spanish club who later stole him away from the English side. Barcelona’s La Liga rivals, Real Madrid were after the player as well but he was eliminated from the to-buy list because many of the owners thought that he was too ugly to play for them.
It wasn’t escalated by the media because the Brazilian striker was happy to join Barcelona. This began an illustrious five year stay with the Spanish club when Ronaldinho proved the world that it wasn’t his face that really mattered when it came down to “mesmerising” the audience by playing some fabulous football. The one-man-army helped his team to victory on many occasions and was simply an outstanding player.
When Barcelona visited Real Madrid’s home Santiago Bernabeu, Ronaldinho showed the world that he was simply an outstanding performer and he could easily take down a team like Real Madrid with ease. With players like Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and the Brazilian Ronaldo in the ranks, Ronaldinho singlehandedly stole the show as Barcelona won the match 3-0 with 2 goals from Ronaldinho. This amazing performance got a standing ovation from Real Madrid fans as the Blaugrana colours simply shaded off from the pitch as the match concluded.
Ronaldinho finished his contract with Barcelona and inked a deal with AC Milan where he went through an injury plagued season. However, when the Brazilian legend returned to the pitch, Ronaldinho was still in form. His incredible ball control and free kick taking ability was still there even when he was still out of form. He also managed to give the highest number of assists throughout the season.
The new Brazilian coach, Mano Menezes, who succeeded Dunga after the “failure” of the Brazilian team in the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, believed that Ronaldinho could make a come back to the Brazilian team. The new coach said that the Brazilian legend is not very old to perform and his last season at AC Milan was pretty good. However, Menezes might still take time to figure out the final solution for Brazil.
Is Ronaldinho finally returning to international football is the biggest question amongst Dinho fans. With Robinho, Pato and Ibrahimovic alongside him in AC Milan, the team is definitely going to do wonders and Ronaldinho is probably going to make it to the Brazilian team for one last time.
