Question:

Is Roxanne too old?

I've always liked Roxanne, but it fell out of the top 1000 in the 2003. Does that mean its time is over? What do you think of Roxanne? How about just Roxie? That fell out of the top 1000 in 1970.

  1. Roxanne has definitely had it's time. I think you need to move on haha

Roxie is quite cute, it reminds me of Roxie Hart from Chicago, but I don't think it's an amazing name. There are plenty of beautiful names out there for girls.

  2. I personally don't care for the name that much but to each his (or her) own. When I named my children I try to think of any way other kids can make fun of that name. I know that sounds funny but you know the kids these days are doing it and will continue. My sister went with some names that I didn't care for but they were named after his mom or our mom, etc... I think if the name is from a family member or loved one then you have to take that into consideration. I say don't give too much thought into what everyone else thinks and you should just look forward to a happy health baby and name her whatever your heart feels. Good Luck!!

  3. I hope this doesn't come off mean just lack of better words - to me Roxanne - sounds old and fat..

Roxie - sound like strip dancer

  4. traditional names are actually becoming .

    very popular again.

i am happy for that because these names never go out of style.

i love Roxanne and Roxie is a cute nick name

    good luck!

  6. why does it matter if the name isnt popular anymore? than youre kid will have a extra unique name! i like the name roxanne and plus you can always nickname roxy or roxie :]

  7. I think Roxanne is a beautiful name! Don't worry about whether it's popular or not. If you want to name your daughter Roxanne, just do it!

  8. The name Roxanne is beautiful. I heard it from Cyrano De Bergerac and have loved it ever since. Just don't use roxie. It sounds really ugly and 80's ish.

  9. i don't like that name

  10. first, you shoudnt really care about the top names. and no, ive always loved the name roxanne.

  11. go for whatever name u like the best who cares what other people think of it!! its your kid and u can name her what you want!! soo go for it i think that roxanne is cute and original i would much rather have a original name then one that is SUPER common like mark or megan!! hope this helps!!

  12. I like it too. Just because it's not that popular anymore, that's good. I would'nt want to have 3 other girls named Roxanne i my class.

  13. I love Roxanne! She could be called Roxie or Anne! I really love it and think you should use it.*

  14. Roxanne is beauuuuitiful. Just because it's not a popular name doesn't mean it's beautiful! I love it. I don't like Roxie because of the surf brand, haha. But Roxanne really is a beautiful name.

  15. Roxanne may not be as popular as it once was, but why do you care?

More importantly, there are many of us who immediately think of the Police song called "Roxanne", which is about a prostitute.  This is the sort of information that may actually be useful in choosing a name.

  16. I like that name ok. I like better with two nn's than with 1 n.

  17. nooooo

its beautiful, spesh when you shorten it to

    Roxy :)

  18. It's old & not a pretty name.  <imho>

  19. its still around and unique i would go for it

  20. I actually have always liked the name Roxanne. It's so understated. And plus it's very unique these days because it isn't hardly used anymore. And I like Roxie as a nickname too.

  21. Roxanne is an awesome name...who cares what some list says...do you want your kids to have the same name as 10 others in their class?  Don't name a kid a nickname...if you want to call her Roxie then great...but name her Roxanne.

Personally i wish the names that would be over are the any names beginning with Mc or Mac, or names that have excessive amounts of y's or have unnecessary y's replacing perfectly fine letters!

  22. It's definitely a dated name. Although it did have popularity in medival times (Alexander the Great's wife was Roxanne). I haven't met anyone recently with that name and I don't like the name either.
