And if so, who do you think will win and why? And where is the bout going to be held...in the States or England?

  1. boxrec.com   < this will be your new boxing source!

  2. Hi, yes the fight is taking place on Saturday November 8th 2008 and will be shown on HBO Pay per view.

For those people who are in the UK (like me) who read this you can also watch it on Setanta sports or listen to it on Radio 5.

It will take place at Madison Square Gardens in New York City which has been the venue for some classic encounters such as Ali vs Frazier 1 in 1971.

I have already commented on a similar post as to who I think will win. My view is that Roy Jones Jr will sneak this one by decision although being a huge Calzaghe fan I do hope I am proved wrong! I bet against him when he fought Jeff Lacy but Jones is NO Lacy as he has the handspeed and the experience to give Joe a difficult time away from home.

  3. Boxrec is a good site, but they are not always accurate, they often put fights up as a go before they are even signed, and I have found allot of errors in records, rounds ko'd in ext ext.

Excellent site I love it, but don't take what you find their as absolute fact.

But yea Jones Jr vs Calzaghe Nov 8

    Saturday, November 8 2008

Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York

Roy Jones Jr. vs Joe Calzaghe (light heavyweight)

Dmitriy Salita vs Andreas Kotelnik (WBA super lightweight champion)

Julio Diaz vs Ray Narh (lightweight)

    Thats the entire card.

A good site for up to date boxing info, world rankings and Schedule is www.fightnews.com   It's a free site and is very up to date often reporting stories before other sites.

www.maxboxing.com is excellent as well, with videos and the lot but it cost money.

This fight all depends on Jones, If he can turn back the clock and show up even 50% of what he used to be then Calzaghe has no chance.

Even at 39 Jones has more speed, more power and a better defense. But again he is 39 years old, but I think Calzaghe is like 36 so he aint no spring chicken either.

a 42 year old Hopkins who is a relatively light puncher knocked Joe down in their fight. Calzaghe had the flurry in and out style that has given Hopkins trouble against Taylor and Jones especially at 42.  When Calzaghe leaps in with flurry's I look for Jones to land and move and eventually catch Joe with something and stop him.

I might be believing in Jones too much because I remember what he used to be, how great he was its hard for me to allow myself to think a limited fighter like Calzaghe could beat him. So Im just going to have faith and think Jones Jr can turn back the clock for one night and take out the Welshman.

They say every great fighter has one great fight left in him, I think this will be Jones last great fight.

  4. yeah, ruddiger hit the nail on the head, if jones if half his old self he wins.  I think it should be a good fight but I still see jones winning, he's finally hungry again and wants to prove himself, where in his prime he didn't think he had to, so he skipped some big fights.

anyway jones wins most likely be disicion.

  5. the fight takes place at madison square garden in new york on 8th nov.

calzaghe will win on points, as jones jr is well past his prime now.
