my personal opinion is that rugby league has stopped its role as a sport and is now a business, i miss the days of local grounds, daytime grandfinals and most importantly a backline

  1. Times r changing bro, but it cant b dat bad but, the TV ratings r raping the AFL ratings so dey must b doin somthing rite.

HAHA Manly, lost 2 str8 den went 2 brookvale on a fine nite 2 play the warriors and dey had only 10 000 the the lowest of the round, even canberra had more lol wat a digrace dat club is. Look at NTH QLD dey got flogged in da 1st 3 games den get a full house vs the EELS.

    Die Manly

  2. when has it ever been good?

  3. umm its the 21st century

if you want that stuff go and watch nsw vb cup or jim beam cup or local A grade park footy

  4. Give me my boy playing club footy in the Parramatta comp any day over the NRL.

My son works 2 jobs, goes to Uni & still finds time to train

NRL players are over payed, underworked spoilt primadonna brats.

I totally agree with daytime grandfinals & word has it that the NRL are bowing to the pressure of the fans & it could be back 2009

  5. Yes the game has gone to the pack! Even park footy has gone mad with the right centre left centre etc., boring uncontested scrums & nine and fox rape of the game for ratings!

  6. Its gone to soft.players of the past were much better than some of the nevilles running round today.the early to mid 90's were when league was at its best

  7. Ask a footballer, and they will tell you... I worth this or that much to take the field.... so definitely yes...

  8. I agree.

    Even the commentators are bias.

The one thing i noticed on the bunnies v manly game

is that the commentators called the bunnies 'dead mice'

They like some teams and are really cruel to other teams

  9. ok well...

local grounds - most small grounds are too old and cant support the team or the crowd anymore, so they have to use other stadiums or upgrade or even build more, id rather be sitting in a comfortable seat under a covered shelter in ANZ stadium then be sitting on wet grass at a no frills ground like brookvale oval

Daytime GF's - they originally changed them to night to get more ratings, but its been changed to daytime starting this year...

Backline - I have no idea what you mean, backlines are bigger, stronger and faster than they were 10 years ago.

NRL has to be run as a business to turn over, or else it will have to fold.

    EDIT:

Every team in the NRL well most anyway are currently upgradeing or building new stadiums

    Cowboys are upgrading to 33,000+

Melbourne are building a new Stadium 28,000 that can be upgraded to up to 40,000

Panthers are upgrading to 40,000 within the next 4 years

Knights are upgrading to 34,000 then again to 40,000+

Titans opened their 27,000 stadium this year

    Tigers are renovating

    Warriors are renovating

    Manly are "trying" to upgrade

    Sharks finished upgrades this year

Some of them are being upgraded because the NSW government are trying to bid for the FIFA world cup, but at least its a step in the right direction

  10. You're forgetting Manly. We support all those things.

Maybe it is not the clubs that have forgotten them but the NRL administration.

  11. yes

  12. Unfortunately every sport needs to be treated like a business these days - or it just wont keep the finances rolling in and hence retaining the players. Happens in every sport though - I think 20/20 cricket is a disgrace, AFL started years ago waiting for the commercial to finish before the ball up would occur - then look at Europe and the US. The money sports win - soccer and to a degree Union in Europe, Baseball, GridIron, Basketball in the US. So if the choice is to accept some commercialism and keep the game, or to just go back to amateur, with teams going bust and - as Rugby Union is now professional - any good player going to Union - then lets keep commercialism.

  13. can i have some of what u r on!!!! it's messing with ur head.

Rugby league is much better than it was in the 70's and 80's.

Yes it still has its flaws but overall the package is pretty good.

Bring back the contest at the play the ball and scrums and it will improve

  14. I agree with ' Rerereeeegan BW'...
