I am a fan of league. I think it is a more athletic sport, that involves more attack rather than positional play. What do you think?

  1. NO.

in league theyre all idiotic wimps playing a violence-free game that requires no skill. theres a reason its only in australia.

in union theyre smart tough guys who can handle being tackled and have the skill to play the game which is worldwide.

  2. League by a mile

its not played by up themselves snobs

its a tougher more tactical game

    and a joy to watch

ived watch it for 10 years and played for 8

    i lvoe it

    even though im a girl

    :):)

    LEAGUELEAGUELEAGUE

    rhinos fan

    xx

and kassia it isn't only on Oz

Uk & france have teams too

  3. hi ive only recently in last couple of seasons started to watch league

as ive a good friend who i can chat to

    about the beautiful game

i really enjoy both codes as a son of a yorkshire man

and amother an english rose cant help but watch both

guess I'm into either as for pace etc depends on who's running with the ball

cant wait for the grand final 4th oct as im at two games that day

as for all the new rules etc i guess time will tell wher we go from hear

anyway keep waching all the best

  4. having played both codes I have to say League is the better code to play.  it involves all players in the team and there's nowhere to hide when you're in defence.  It puts a premium on possession and using it positively.  The fitness levels are higher and the ultimate compliment is that all the Union's recent law changes have been an attempt to make that code more like League.

  5. no

  6. It's all about personal opinion, I prefer Union because of the physical and inclusive nature of it and tactical play required.

I can see how someone would like League more because it faster and has some  bigger hits which are illegal in Union and it's less complex.

You can't really say one's better than the other unless you put 'In my opinion after it.'

Also 'TheRationalist' you don't watch Union much do you?

Just realised you're copying and pasting your answer into every question regarding League,

  7. League is much better than Union. Union is fundamentally flawed = the only way to get any sort of watchable play is by ignoring the rules, particularly with regard to blocking and offside. Your friend is correct - with so many points being the result of penalties, games are often decided by the whim of the ref. It often appears completely arbitrary when referees choose to penalise players. I played Union for my school for 7 years, and for some time wondered why our school referees blew the whistle every other second, but the refs on TV didn't. When I looked a bit closer at the TV games, I realised the players were committing just as many offences as me and my mates at school, but the refs weren't penalising them, obviously because the refs on TV knew that if they kept on stopping the game every second, people would soon switch off.

In my view League is like second rate American Football. You have 6 attempts (tackles) to go the whole length of the field, compared with 4 attempts (downs) to go 10 yards in gridiron.

  8. League- pick ball up, pass, then bash yourself like a lunatic just by running in a stright line towards your opponent or kick straight for the corner and pray someone can jump as high as a lineout jumper in Union. Any one can play league because it not tactical and all plays are very similar.

You can also win a game of League without scoring a try too. Just look at some of the past origin games.

League is only professional in 2 countries lol. Its not popular anywhere else in the world except for Queensland and NSW. AFL is more popular and bigger than League.

Union- very tactical and technical game with beautiful intricate back line moves and more free flowing plays.

Its rugby version of the game played in heaven

  9. well i play both codes and find union better becuase when u have experienced both u can tell how much faster union is then league.  so i have to say union

  10. Yes, yes it is.

  11. The rules of Union over the last few decades have rendered it  more similar to League . Whilst both games are alike having had  a common root - Union has become more popular to watch and play . If you live in the North of England or Australia you are exposed to a regular diet of the sport . Elsewhere we tend to look in and enjoy but it is in a global sense too insular  .

  12. League is better to watch Union is better to play apart from some of the recent innovations like being able to lift your mate in the lineout. That should have been stamped out the first time it happened. It's not Rugby it's ballet.

  13. I enjoy watching both....but my fave is union...

  14. No, having seen both much prefer Union

  15. run forward, get tackled, put the ball down.

    repeat 4 times.

    then kick the ball.

no, thats not very boring. nor dull to watch.  :rolleyes

sounds like american football. which is definitely boring to watch.

  16. Not better - just different!

  17. Union is the one

  18. No, I have played both. I was pushed towards league as a young boy, but changed codes when we moved away from Yorkshire. I then found the true game of Rugby Union. It is far harder more tactical & overall a better game. Rugby league is just "British Bulldog"  I started watching the Challenge Cup final yesterday, gave up after 5 minutes to go & mow the lawn, didn't have to as the wife was out shopping but doing the garden was more appealing.

  19. They're the same but different to me.

I like both and don't feel the need to get partisan over it.

Both are much better games than football.

  20. yes it is, union is trying to be more like league, full time professionals and i hear they are changing the rules to score more tries. League isn't insular it tries to expand into the south all the time, but people tend to stick to what they were brought up with. Also most media outlets are in the south so they stick to reporting to reporting union. It tends to be more popular in the world as it was exported by the Army and Navy as the officers were taught in schools that played it.

  21. no way

  22. League wipes the floor with union

  23. League is the dumb version of Union.

Union is played world wide and have far more competitive test internationals then league.

League internationals are boring cause we already know Australia is going to win. They play New zealand and the british all the time who aren't that competitive.

Union is great game because you can punish your opponent from any part of the feild and can turn defence into attack very easily
