Not in the way you'd expect. Yes, I'd say they're starting to pine for (i.e., get in the position to regain some or all of) the power and influence they had back in the day, but I don't think it's going to be a communist system.

All the talk is about China and  USA. Russia feels like its third on a match. And to think of how powerful Russia was, for so many years.

They feel humiliated, similar in ways, I'd imagine to how Hitler's Germany felt  some 7 decades ago.

The sad fact is they never really left their old ways. It took them a number of years to improve their economy after communism and now they can act as before.

No, in contrast to US and Soviet actions Russia is trying to follow the UN and the international rules.

They have lots of money and the citizens are much more free than before.  They are there as a counterbalance to US global hedgemony, and in particular of resource rich central asia.   If there had been no Cold war the US might be in control of the world right now.

Imperial Russia has always been an imperialistic totalitarian dictatorship.

Nothing's changed. Hasn't for centuries. They occasionally take a breather. Like the Yamster (you know, the Y!A rodent in the pajamas). Then they come back and pillage their neighbors.
