  1. you bet ye.

  2. georgia wants to be democratic like the us and so does china, that's why russia and china are against this!

  3. No your father is wrong.

  4. No, it is about this stupid missile defense system that the US wanted to install. There are too many lies told and not the real truth.

  5. Your father either is very one sided or does not follow the real stories close enough to understand it. This is a simple explanation of whats going on over there. There was an area of Georgia called South Ossetia . They declared independence from Georgia a long time ago. Georgia has never officially accepted this., well they did in 1992 but in 2004 they broke the agreement and attacked South Ossetia. Georgia's Military has frequently attack South Ossetia and are trying to force them to become part of Georgia again. In fact Georgia has murdered Thousands of Innocent people in South Ossetia in order to try and get them to be so afraid they will come back.

There are many Russians living in South Ossetia. Russia got fed up with they're own citizens being attacked and murdered so they stepped up and used The Russian Military to put a stop to it.

I am normally not a fan of Russia...Well I am still not a "fan", but Russia had every right in the world to do what they did.

I cannot believe that the United States is openly condemning Russia for doing whats right.

Your father needs to read more about the situation before he makes haste remarks on subjects he is not clearly informed about.

  6. No!

The conflict started when two regions broke of from Georgia wanting independence, South Ossetia and Akhbazia. Georgia and S.O started fighting but peace deal was reached in 1992, at the same time when S.O declared itself independent.

Since then S.O has been independent but Georgia still claims it as it's territory. S.O has made it clear it wants nothing to do with Georgia, are ethnically different from Georgia. Majority of S.O have Russian citizenship.

Georgia to reclaim S.O attacked S.O with the backing of US. Russia retaliated fiercely. Russia had warned Georgia against such move.

Rest is simply part of a bigger picture. US wants to increase its influence even if it means on the expense of Russia. Russia is vary of any influence besides its borders. So US did not like defending S.O even though they full well knew if provoked Russia will retaliate.

The problem is further escalating as US wants a defense shield in Poland, which Russia sees as a threat. Then there is frictions over control of OIL supplies. US wants to be sole power, Russia of course now willing to defend its interests.

So directly the conflict was between Georgia and Russia. However indirectly it is between US and Russia. Only thing changes is Russia has made it clear it will defend its interests. Russia actually is the good guy contrary to what is being portrayed in US media.

Everyone except people in US know that it was Georgia that attacked S.O. So your dad is not unique in his understanding of the situation. I would seriously suggest looking into alternative sources.

. . . . and Georgia being a democracy. It is corrupt and totalitarian regime. A police state no different than Russia. It is NOT a democracy! Of course Bush knows that as well.

  7. Georgia was an independent nation from 1918 - 1922 when communist Russia invaded it and made it part of the Soviet Union (USSR).  When the the USSR disintegrated in 1991, Georgia declared it's independence again.  Since then, Russia has been provoking the Georgians.  Most of the population in South Ossetia are Russian citizens, even when they know that South Ossetia belongs to Georgia.

It's been said since Georgia got it's independence, that the KGB is still in South Ossetia, from where they incite the people from South Ossetia to raise against the government of Georgia, so Russia can have an excuse to punish Georgia, invading it all over again.  What is going on right now it's nothing more than a situation created and provoked by the people in South Ossetia and pushed by Russia.
