Question:

Is Russia the new USA?

Russia owe's NO debt according to President Bush, yet we owe 9.3 trillion and counting. Why is he not trying to pay this down, even though he said that he would try to pay our debt down like (3) times? Non the less, is Russia taking our place in the world power.

  2. I personally believe the USA's time as a "world power" is waning terribly. That and our president is an *** monkey. I hope that the next decade will improve from the down spiral Bush took this country into.

I remember all the Chicken Little's in the 1980s saying that Japan was taking over the world (and the U.S.).  Simply put, when you are number one for as long as we have been, people start to dislike you. (Nobody wants to watch the same team win all the time, do they?)  Russia is far from being the new U.S.  First of all, they are racked by corruption.  They are enjoying a short term boom due to oil prices being sky high, but it wasn't that long ago that they defaulted on their debt and everyone steered clear (check your recent history books).  China is a solid industrial power but they are polluting the c**p out of their country to do it.  In order to be the next US you have to have (1) a stable democracy (2) consistent year after year results in financial and business areas (3) a solid military power base to be able to protect your interests at home and abroad.  

    This is an outstanding time for us all to get a little hungry and tough, and come out that much stronger.  Simply put, we have been spending too much at home (on foreign made electronics and junk).  Time to start saving and investing again, to make things and sell them to others, to be more realistic about what we really need (homes, cars, playthings) and to become "greener" in terms of our way of life.  This is an outstanding opportunity to step back so we can step forward, once again leaping to a place of global financial and technological supremacy.  God bless the good old USA, and our innovation and work ethic.  Now, let's get to work!  :-)

  6. Nope. Nowadays Russia is way better than USA. They are booming and we are dying. Go visit Russia and see for yourself.

    By the way some ignorant individuals believe that Russia is still a communist country. There is no communism and communists in Russia since 1990.

  7. No, I would keep an eye out for China. Their economy is growing very fast, they have enough people to wage a long term war, and they have accepted capitalism as a working economy.

    China has also become the "factory of the world," which means that most of the worlds goods come there. Therefore they are responsible for a large part of the raw goods and manufactured goods that are distributed to the world.

    China has also recently announced they that are working on a line of automobiles that will be manufactured out of China to compete in the world auto market and specifically the United States.

    I think they are the country to watch out for.

    I didn't see the posts before mine. In light of that I would like to add that Russia doesn't have the production means or capabilities that China has at the moment. Also keep in mind that Russian doesn't have the means at the moment to foster very much advanced technology.

    And for the guy who said they are all communists...you're a little behind haha. Russia is a capitalistic and democratic country and has been for quite some time now. However, I will agree that they have not made the best transition to to capitalism and democracy and do often have conflicts between old and new ideologies of economics.

  8. The next three major world powers are predicted by experts to be China, Europe, and the US, in that order. Russia will still be recovering from the 20th century all the way through the 21st.

    Russia lacks the demography. It has the resources surely, but lacks the demography. China is the reverse.... now if they teamed up?..
