I heard that SAT is mandatory for admission in any US university. I reside in India and am thinking about college studies in the US. So do I have to give SAT here, to get admission there?

  1. Yes, most colleges require either the SAT or ACT test

  2. SAT tests are required by the marjoirty, if not all of universties and colleges in the United States. About the only exceptions to this requirement are community colleges.

Check the website for the university you are interested in attending and look for the admission reqirement as an international student. You find all of the information you need there.

  3. It is pretty much mandatory. The ACT test is another option. However, I strongly suggest you do the SAT test if you plan on studying in the US.

  4. Almost all universities require either the SAT or ACT. Even many elite schools say you can take either of them.

The tests are different from each other. This site will explain the focus of each and help you decide which test to take:
