Is SPF 50 a good sunscreen to use in cancun?

Once you get to 30spf and above they are pretty much all the same. If you are concerned about skin cancer,it is more important that the lotion contains parcol1789.also called avobenzone. Most lotions that have this advertise this as anti-aging. I use Nuetrogena Ultra Sheer. Others include hawaiian tropics and nivea. Just look at the ingredients. It should be at least 3.0% avobenzone.

SPF 50 is very high, if your skin is white and gets red when you exposed yourself to the sun for half an hour or so, yes.

If you want to catch a nice tan, I'd suggest something around 20 and gradual exposure, never around noon-2 pm.

Protect your face with a hat or cap, and your eyes with sunglasses.

Use that if you want to come back white,

I use SPF 4 while I'm on vacation,

so that I get an AMAZING tan,

but I dont get too burnt.
