Is San Jose looking like best team in the West?

As of late, they are looking wonderful, unbeaten in they're last six is nothing to sneeze at.  Dynamo are still the best team in the west without question, but San Jose has one thing that could get them into the playoffs; LOCATION! In the West, the #1 team (Houston) is ahead of the #2 team (Salt Lake) by 5 points.  At the same time, 5 points is all that seperates Salt Lake from last place San Jose.  If the earthquakes can keep this streak alive and win more home games, then suddenly they could be in the playoffs.  Also one other advantage that they have is that 6 of their last 9 games of the season are at home, and only at home has San Jose truly shown what kind of team that they are capable of being.....

And now for my prediction

San Jose will place 4th in the West with 35 points with an 8-11-11 record but miss the playoffs because the East will have 5 teams qualify but the West will only have 3 teams (Houston, Real Salt Lake, and I'll say Dallas will drop off and Colorado will take 3rd in the West)

They looked weak last night's scoreless draw against a weak ChivasUSA.

Doubtful that they have the experience playing together to mount the run necessary to get to postseason.

well they have been red hot but they are somewhat in a hole.they have 9 games to catch up.my gut says they will put up a great fight but wont make it ultimately.

but yeah.that game they had against the revs was wild.

im  not the best team in the west but im sure they will qualify for playoffs and when they do, they will no doubt be  mls cup contenders

remember 8th seed LA Galaxy of 2005.  From last seed to MLS champions.

My brother and I were talking about this at the beginning of the season.  I said that San Jose did the right thing building its defense.  And during the next transfer window the club would add forwards and some midfielders.  And that the club would be a serious contender if the were not mathematically eliminated. (My brother thought I was crazy...Then after the 4-0 victory over New England he told me that San Jose has a sick team).

Sure enough...That is what they did.  I think they are a top 2 team in the west.
