Question:

Is Sandals any good? Where should we go for our wedding?

Thanks is advance for any advice you can give. My fiance and I are trying to find the best place to go for a destination wedding. We live near Toronto, Ontario, and would like to go somewhere as soon as possible, actually, hopefully in August. We just can't decide where to go.

We started with Sandals St. Lucia but then read some awful reviews, plus it sounds like the trip from the airport to the resort is long and difficult.

I also want my Dad to have a good time - which means that food and drinks need to be super cheap or just all inclusive. He also has a bad back, and gets tired easily, so he would not be able to handle a long bumpy ride from an airport to a resort. It would have to be a quick, easy ride.

Also, I have looked at lots of resort photos and found that many of them have too much concrete and not enough trees and gardens. Greenery would be a plus.

I also want a place that really does specialize in easy weddings.

Thanks again, from Katy

  1. How much do you plan to spend?

You can get a 2 stop air ticket to Panama (Central America)via Delta Airlines for about $620.00 USD each.( with all the taxes included) There are tons of Hotels and Motel to choose from and not expensive. To move around TAXI fare is $1.50 (USD) a trip ( VERY UNEXPENSIVE) The Caribbean is amazing and at this time is perfect. If you want to do extreme stuff, there is Jungle, private Island trips, bird watching and tons of water sports and all the Pacific Beaches...( All inclusive check Decameron). Panama  is a great place, bilingual and have USD currency. Check it out!

  2. First thing to consider, no two people would ever always see things the same way. Sometimes reading the reviews from people who stayed in the same place as you could be as opposite as chalk and cheese. That said, here's my experience in St Lucia.

I am from the Caribbean also...Trinidad and Tobago to be exact and this is my unbiased view. I visited St Lucia and fell in love with the place. There are three Sandals resorts in St lucia, personally Sandal Grande is awesome! A short walk away will take you to Pigeon island where the annual St Lucia Jazz festival is held. It provides a beautiful place for a wedding with a spectacular backdrop of the sea.

One other thing, there are two airports in St Lucia, we arrived at the Castries airport, which is much closer to the resorts because we came from the Caribbean, but you'll most likely have to go to the International Airport, and l have to agree with you, the drive is very bumpy......don't know if any road works was done since tho. I think it would be a pity for you to miss out on the beauty of St Lucia because of the bumpy roads. Hope l helped.
