It is a very diverse city too.

There is a strong anti-gun lobby she has been battling. I do not know how hunting remained legal there.

All retail spending in Alaska(7 billion) is almost half of the City of Chicago's budget.

  2. On the issue of experience, all I have heard from liberals is how Sarah Palin is not experienced enough to be a heart beat away from the presidency. She has THE SAME amount of experience as Barack Obama. Obama would not be a heart beat away, he WOULD BE the president from Day 1, with the same lack of experience as Palin. Why do liberals not get this fact?? Obama was in office for 180 days before he started his presidential campaign, and has split most of his time between the Senate and running for President. Also, her experience as a Governor is administrative. She has experience running a state budget, state energy policies in terms of Alaskan oil, as Commander of the Alaskan National Guard. Obama does not have any of those experience as a Senator.

  3. at least mccain has locked in the eskimo vote

  4. Palin has actually run a state, whether the population is big or little.

    Obama makes speeches.

    Which one is more qualified?

    Palin is the VP pick

    Obama is the Prez pick

    Get the difference????

  5. It should be impressive to you.  She stood up to Big Oil.

  6. Don't forget:

She stood up TO Big Oil.

    By supporting drilling in ANWAR?

Sounds more like standing UP FOR big Oil.

    Lol!

Let's wait for the real Sarah Palin to come out in the light of day.

    Bound to happen.

  7. certainly not to the "Smug and Self-Congratulatory" segment....but we all know Obama had that demographic locked up before Super Tuesday...

And by the way....of which town was Obama the mayor?

And did that town have to routinely deal with international treaties regarding shipping, fishing, natural resources and conservation?

Did that town routinely deal with Russia and Canada?

Did that mayor oversee relations and care for a sizable minority population (or do Native Americans not qualify as a "minority" in your book...?)

These are all responsibilities of the CHIEF EXECUTIVE of Alaska.

This is why Obama has been uncharacteristically silent for two days...Every time one of his followers looks down their nose at Palin and questions her fitness for the job of VICE President, he has to hold his breath, stand very still, and hope that the next question isn't about HIM...

  8. Sarah Palin is more experienced than John McCain since she has to handle a budget and is Commander of the Alaska National Guard. she has executive experience something John McCain doesnt have.

im using the same logic of the McCain supporters who say she has more experience than Obama and Biden just because they are Senators. but they forget their guy John McCain is a Senator too!

  9. Only to conservatives who aren't allowed to hold a different view... Deny deny deny.. Just ask Karl Rove...

  10. JUST THAT GOES TO SHOW YOU JUST HOW FULL OF IT THAT THEY REALLY STILL ARE , NOTHING CHANGED!!!!!!!!!

    OBAMA/BIDEN'08 !!!!!!

  11. Well, unlike 48 other states in the Union, Alaska doesn't border a state.  It borders Canada to the East, and is four miles by sea to Russian Territory.  She has had to deal with both of those governments over issues like security, trade, transportation, fishing rights, oil, and others.  That already gives her more foreign diplomatic experience than the top of the Democrat ticket.

As far as your budget questions; she's been more fiscally resaponsible than her predecessors, so I think she'll do fine.

Edit: Senator McCain DOES have executive-type experience.  He was a squad commander of a Naval Unit, and DID have to meet a budget.  Yes, Governor Palin has more recent experience, but I don't think Senator McCain forgot it either.

  12. I think the Obama supporters that are trying to make an issue of Governor Palin's experience are the biggest hypocrites in the country right now.

  13. Not to me.

She an ex beauty queen and an ex sportscaster journalist.

I'd rather have a president who has 8 years as a state senator, 3 years as a U. S. senator and a brilliant, legally trained Harvard mind any day than an ex journalist.

  14. no but who cares Obama is going to win

  15. Well, when Clinton was governor of Arkansas, that state ranked near the bottom of every major statistical category -- mean income, quality of state services, health care, you name it.

Alaska does not.  It ranks near the bottom only in the category of population -- which is something no governor, including Mrs. Palin, can do anything about.

Her tax policies, her anti-corruption stance, her pro-life convictions, and her public-sector AND private-sector experience are just as applicable to Washington DC as they are to Anchorage.

    .

  16. Lets face it if experience is the issue Obama is through. She has experience on a smaller scale.Much more than Obama's Community Org Experience. His Lawyer skills are the only thing keeping him out of jail for the Shady Deals with Resko. So Basically its over for Obama and I don't feel bad at all.

  17. It's not her experience in population control that is an asset.  If that were the case, Obama doesn't even have control over any population.

It's her willingness to fight corruption within the government and towards the people she governs.  That doesn't require a census, it required conviction and action.

  18. I do love how liberals have taken it upon themselves to insult the state of Alaska.

Since Obama joined the senate, his organization's approval rating has plummeted to 8%.

Since Palin became Governor of Alaska, her organization's approval rating has risen to 80%.  Go ahead and spin that.

I guess some think it's better to have two people on a ticket with no executive experience, but not just once person with no executive experience.  True, Palin has more executive experience than McCain, but McCain has more than Biden or Obama.  He did this thing called command when he was in the Navy.

    I'll take McCain/Palin over Biden/Obama.
