  1. Yes, she is still the Duchess of York despite the divorce. However, pre-divorce she was HRH The Duchess of York. She lost the Royal Highness rank after the divorce, much like Diana after hers.

  2. i believe she is diana retained her title of princess when charles and she divorced but if andrew were to remarry his new wife would become hrh the duchess of york were as fergie is just doy there is no hrh status with her

  3. Yes, she is known as Sarah, Duchess of York. Her title is "Her Grace" as she lost HRH on her divorce.

It is not to do with her children even if she hadn't had children she would have kept her title. However, if Prince Andrew remarried his wife would be HRH The Duchess of York but Sarah would still keep her title.

  4. According to an interview I saw of her wherein they asked her the same question, her answer was "Yes, it was a wedding gift from the Queen".

  5. yes she is.

  6. She still retains the title Duchess of York as long as she doesn't remarry, but she can't use the style HRH.

  7. Yes she is. However if she remarries then she will cease to be Duchess. If Prince Andrew re-marries his new wife will become HRH the Duchess of York.

  8. Yes she is because of her children i think.

  9. She is still Sarah,Duchess of York, but she is no longer "Her Royal Highness." If she were to remarry, she'd lose the title altogether. If Andrew were to marry, the new wife would be Her Royal Highness ,The Duchess of York;Sarah would retain her title if her ex remarries and she stays unmarried.

A non-royal duchess is referred to as "Her Grace",or "Your Grace."

  10. "Sarah retains the style but not the title of the Duchess of York,"  according to the Wikipedia entry "Duchess of York", which explains,

"The Duchess of York is a title held by the wife of the Duke of York since the first Duke of York in 1384.  The title is gained with matrimony alone and forfeited on divorce."

Upon divorce, she became Sarah, Duchess of York (the proper address for the divorced wife of a peer).   Therefore, again according to Wikipedia, "Contrary to popular belief, Sarah, Duchess of York, is not the Duchess of York for that is the title reserved for the wife of the Duke of York."

    Confused?

It's all a matter of semantics: Still address Ms Ferguson as "Duchess of York", even though she isn't, although you no longer need to bother with "HRH".

For my next trick, I will explain why the Duchess of Cornwall is really the Princess of Wales, although Camille Parker Bowles isn't styled as "Princess".

  11. Yes she can still call her self the Duchess of York but she can not use the term her highness

  12. Sarah Ferguson is indeed the Duchess of York but without the HRH - however, should Prince Andrew remarry, he new wife will then become HRH Duchess of York.

  13. When my parents divorced my mother kept her married name. My father remarried and his new wife also is Mrs <insert name here> just like my mother!
