Question:

Is Sarah Palin a poor mother?

Maybe she's too caught up in her job. Maybe her husband spends too much time racing snowmobiles. If she doesn't know what her 17 year old daughter is 'busy' 'doing' (unprotected), what does it say about her ability to help run the country when she can't run her family? The problem I've had with recent politicians (from any party) is their ethics and morals. Is she a poor mother? And is this a reflection of how she will assist our country if McCain is elected? (And of course mothers who have had their teenage kids get pregnant will bash this question, as will the women who got pregnant in their teens.)

  1. no

  2. She will not be a mother at all if McCain wins.

  3. You're right. She's also wrong. My family doesn't have a pregnant unwed daughter.

  4. She's a terrible mother. Why wasn't she keeping tabs on her daughter, a minor who is now pregnant? I don't want that kind of loose control, in charge of this nation. She forgot about her children just to advance her political career.

  5. my opinion:

husbands will always have overpowering hobbies... whether it be drinking, gambling, hanging with the guys, bowling, football, theyh all have something they're caught up in.

so what if her 17 yr old daughter is pregnant?  if you're going to play that card, then turn around and look how obama and his wife admit to cheating on each other... he can't keep it good enough in his bed to keep her there?

if she was a poor mother then she would have an abortion like the doctors wanted her to do with her last child that is mentally challenged. they explained to her how her child was going to be very mentally handicapped and suggested abortion... she refused.

back to the teen pregnancy thing, obama said if one of his daughters was pregnant he wouldn't want them to suffer for the rest of their life with a kid for a bad mistake.

how can youc all a life a mistake?

i think women should have their own choice when it comes to abortion, but i wouldn't do it personally and i don't see how he can call it a  "mistake". that kinda leads back to if he's a christian then he wouldn't think that an unborn baby would be a mistake made by God?

    obama is too questionable.

mccain is great with international affair and palin knows how to deal with the public, how we can no longer be dependent on foreign countries for oil, and she's a great mom!

    peace.

  6. Yes.By what she believes, its ok nothing wrong with it,until you push it off on another and leave them with no reasonable choices for themselves. All parents go thru this but very few in today's world would not protect their child any way they can and teach good morals and hope for the best.I can't get past she gave her daughter NO CHOICES but she makes them for herself, well she is grown and has lived half a life time her daughter has not.Now she has dragged her thru the media and no one in the united states that doesn't know of her plight, which should have remained in the family and definitely in the background. It is appalling and what does it say?She may end up being a great something who knows at this point but even that has been denied her daughter people always remember the scandal,it will follow her like a rabid dog.,and only 17 that's a long burden to carry don't you think?

  7. Did YOUR parents always know what you were doing at all times when you were 17 years old?

So, basically you're saying that if a teenager EVER does something he/she isn't supposed to do, then it means that the parents are automatically bad parents.

Well, if that's the case, then ALL parents are bad parents!

There is NOT ONE teenager out there who has NEVER done anything they're not supposed to do.

Goddamit, what a LAME pot-shot at Palin this is!

Being a good mother isn't about having kids who behave PERFECTLY all the time.

It's about how you handle it when the kids stumble, fall, and do something they shouldn't do.

And on that score, Palin has passed this test with flying colors!

She has handled this situation with honesty, responsibility, grace, optimism, and above all, unconditional love & support for her daughter.

Maybe in order to pass your judgmental "good parent" test, all parents of teenage girls should keep them locked up in the house at all times.

That way, they will ALWAYS know what their kids are doing at all times.   That seems to be your benchmark for "good parent" status.

  8. Psychological studies have shown that the father plays a vital role in the upbringing of children.  Is Obama a poor father for running for president?

He was applauded when his daughters paraded through the stage and blew kisses at a big screen showing their dad, and Michelle O stated they missed their father but understood.

What a pathetic double standard, and backwards, sexist, attack on a woman wanting to excel in a profession.

  9. It does not matter what values or religion you are. You try to raise your children right with morals and values. No one wants their children to go out and get pregnant. It was a bad choice and mistake on her daughters part. But sin is all around us and sometimes you can not get away from peer pressure. People just need to leave it alone. Half of the people answering these either have no children or have youlng children and all of them will have a child that goes out and makes a bad decision (oh my god) and choice! About 1/4 of them will have a child that becomes pregnant. No matter what faith you are. Everyone needs to leave this family alone......

Additional: This 17 yr old may have been raised by her mothers conservative values but at 17, they have a mind of their own and their own values as well. You pretty much know what values you are going to follow and which ones you think are "STUPID" at 17. It is kind of like the fact that when you are put in a private school to be away from drugs. There are more drugs in a private school then public schools. Or a preachers child being raised completely by the book and turning out to be rebellious and doing what ever they want... It is the same thing. As a mother of a girl that is 17, we do not have much control over their beliefs, or chosen or unchosen values. The best you can do is lock your 17 yr old up and keep them prisoner in their own house. Oh and home school them with NO friends. And pray like h**l that Child protection services does not show up at your door for child abuse(because it is).

And furthermore.... Please quit saying that it is just the dems saying and doing this. Even Obama said everyone needs to stay out of it. I am usually a dem. But I am NOT an OBAMA supporter. I think he is a fake...... And I will be voting for McCain this year because he is the BEST qualified and he will get this country back on track before Obama would even know where to start. And that is really what matters here.

  10. No.

It's not her fault that her daughter was disobedient.

But she is a poor choice as a VP.

Why on earth would McCain pick someone who is under investigation for abusing the power of her office?

    Where's the logic?

  11. She is a republican. Never talk bad about them even when they elect a superfoool to the white house.

That lady has no clue about raising children or closing her birth canals.

Even the moose of Alaska knows better not to make children at risky age.

  12. I am a mother of three, and actually managed to get them to college w/.out pregnancies.

I do feel like she needs to be home with her special needs child..Who in their right mind would take a woman from her family like McPain is trying to do anyway.  Total lack of respect for her in my opinion.

  13. Your first most important job is being a parent. If you can't do that right, then what can we expect from her?? I'm not willing to gamble the safety of the US with this woman. At least w/Obama I have known him for two years. I KNOW his views and where he stands.

  14. It is the height of arrogance and folly for someone to make judgements about another's parenting skills when they have no personal knowledge of the people involved.

It's so intellectually dishonest and idiotic that only the lowest of fools would judge her so.

  15. She is a pretty typical stage-christian. Do as I say, not as I do, type.

  16. Perhaps it'd be best if you stayed out of the poor woman's personal life and start worrying about your own.  It's pathetic how the media and dems are picking at her life even after Obama specifically said that "family members are OFF LIMITS."

I actually feel sorry for her that she has to put up with all this.  Nobody would want so much of their personal life revealed to the whole world.

Good job for holding out so far, Sarah...I really hope they lay off.

  17. I just don't think she's fit for the job.  I mean if you have 5 children under the age of 17 your primary "job" should be parenting, and SECOND should be your career.

I don't want a VP whose SECOND job is being a mother to her newborn.  Stay in Alaska and be the good role model, family values epitomizer that Republicans say we should be.

  18. I disagree with you.  yet none of my children got pregnant as a teenager or out of wedlock....I was a virgin until after  I got engaged...oops...should I have waited until we got married? We were engaged for 4 years after I graduated from college! I    became a mother at 30 after 2 yrs marriage.  I  worked to help support the family as Facilities Manager of a large HMO.  My children went to college while working and with the help of Student Loans.  They are all very successful and very happy.  However, I have known two wonderful, loving, dedicated parents who raised their children as I did with strong moral values, yet had a teenage pregnancy.  I am not holier than thou and I do not judge others, especially when I don't know them.  No matter how well you raise your kids you cannot be with them 24/7 or go on their dates with them at 17. Not every teenage pregnancy is a result of bad parenting.

Her kids have not been in trouble with the law.  Her son is serving his country.  Her kids look pretty wholesome to me.  So I am certainly not going to hold a pregnant teen daughter up as proof that she is not a good parent.  As far as staying at home to spend all her time caring for her DS son, I doubt that her husband's salary would support the whole family and I doubt they want to go on welfare...I sure didn't!

  19. HEY! Wake up! This is not 1952, teen pregnancy is nothing new!

It does not make her any less of a mother. And you know better than to talk like this. Stop rattling on, and ask a question with substance, instead of nit-picking. It's about her views and politics, not about her personal family life.

  20. no, nobody could have stopped every boy in Alaska trying to get in those hot panties. Her daughter and herself/family made a good decision to accept a good traditional man into their life. She is more experienced as an antigoverment helper for the people than 10 Obama/Biden bilderberger sellouts. Research her and instead of flowing with the media tell us some things that she is inexperienced at. Dont be a goverment brainwashed mule delivery toy.

  21. LOL .... wow ... you seem to be clueless of the realities of this world ...

"I'm not saying that if a child does something wrong, the parent is a bad parent."  +  "Is she a poor mother? " ... which one is it?

As a parent ... you can only teach and connect with your children .... **** happens ... your children will make mistakes ... regardless of their upbringing ... it is the human condition .. we are not perfect ...

The analogy you use for the failure of her daughter to protect herself from pregnancy and the ability of her mother to govern is just outright ridiculous rhetoric ....

Analogy: Clinton and Monica ... did that mean Bill couldnt run this country because he was a cheater and liar? Your words buddy ....

  22. Do you know what your children are doing at every moment? Is her husband not qulaified to stay home and take care of their kids?

  23. Yeah, you should hear her reaching for sympathy votes. How did I know she was going to play off Trig? Poor baby is being pimped.

  24. She is not what I would choose as a role model for my daughter. She cares more about her career than she does about her children. I am a liberal, but I wouldn't leave my child to go to work until he started school. She left her down syndrome child when he was 3 days old. I thought that the Christian conservatives believed in family first, but I guess that doesn't apply to Palin. She is a hypocrite and a power hungry woman.

  25. Bill Clinton got elected President  twice and he couldn't keep his business where it belonged.

And you are worried about the VP nominee's daughter?  ROFLMAO

  26. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but a mom of 5, especially when one is a newborn with Downs, needs a full-time mother, and not a hired one.

I don't get how the religious right can be OK with this. I'm an atheist, and I'm not OK with this.

As for her qualifications to be vice-president? She has none. There was a myriad of better qualified female candidates for this job.
