Question:

Is Sarah Palin a supporter of abstinence only s*x education?

I know she is a Biblical literalist and wants creationism, but I was under the impession that she supported contraception and contraception-education.

Does she support abstinence only education or not? And, if she did support abstinence-only education, is her teenage daughter's pregnancy just a natural consequence of her mother's judgement and belief system?

  1. I don't know, but those evangelicals sure know how to pop out the illegitimate children, don't they!?

  2. She is open supporter of abstinence only s*x education. We can see on her own example how well this work

  3. Yes she does.

In an Eagle Forum Alaska questionnaire, Palin gave this response to the following question:

Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit s*x-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?

Palin: Yes, the explicit s*x-ed programs will not find my support.

*** UPDATE *** NBC's Abby Livingston adds that a McCain spokesperson in May 2007 said the Arizona Republican supported abstinence-only education, too. "Sen. McCain believes the correct policy for educating young children on this subject is to promote abstinence as the only safe and responsible alternative. To do otherwise is to send a mixed signal to children that, on the one hand they should not be sexually active, but on the other here is the way to go about it. As any parent knows, ambiguity and equivocation leads to problems when it comes to teaching children right from wrong. Sen. McCain believes that there are many negative forces in today’s society that promote irresponsible and dangerous behavior to our children. The public education system should not join this chorus of moral equivocation and ambiguity.”

And yes, there's a reason why the Netherlands, a very liberal country where it comes to sexual matters including open education and access to preservatives, has the lowest teen pregnancy rates. Openess leads to less illinformed or opressed teens and that leads to less teen pregnancies

  4. Oviously!!

  5. yes, she is. she is religious and also thinks creationism should be taught in school instead of evolution.

  6. obviously she didn't inform her daughter about using condoms!

  7. SHE DOES SUPPORT CONTRACEPTIVES! She definitely supports abstinence though, but let's be serious, how many in love, teenagers actually wait until marriage?  She was too worried about asking for the pill, and had a baby.  but now is getting married and will raise her child. LEAVE HER ALONE!

  8. She believes in abstinence only s*x education, is against all family planning and abortion - compulsory pregnancy baby - is against stem cell research and for teaching creationism in the public schools.

She is the most anti-women person McCain could have picked and one of the few even worse than he is on woman's issues.

  9. Not

In an interview Thursday, Palin said she meant only to say that discussion of alternative views should be allowed to arise in Alaska classrooms:

“I don’t think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”

She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state’s required curriculum.

Members of the state school board, which sets minimum requirements, are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Legislature.

“I won’t have religion as a litmus test, or anybody’s personal opinion on evolution or creationism,” Palin said.

  10. Yes, she is.  You can find that info on the Eagle forum.

Will she abandon that approach since it's a clear failure?  I doubt it sadly.  Let's hope her daughter didn't catch anything that can't be cured from the unprotected s*x she was having.

One would think that a candidate for VP would teach her children better but in Palin's case one would be wrong.

  11. Not only is she an abstinence only person, she doesn't believe in certain forms of birth control even if you're married! Any pill that could prevent a fertilized egg from implanting is wrong in her eyes.
