Is Sarah Palin considered a traditional woman?

Or a feminist? Last night, I watched her RNC speech & was astonished at the "gender cards" she was playing due to her role as wife, mother, etc. I won't say I'm in favor of her or not but I was wondering what the people of GWS thought?

  1. I say down with personality politics. Family life will have little bearing on what sort of VP she will make. Her record is less than stellar:

  2. She is either "traditional" or feminist when it's expedient for her to be so. At the core of it all, she's a politician who will say anything to get the vote.

  3. I would say for the misogynists, yes she is a traditional woman. That's because she's youngish and attractive. If she were older and less attractive, then she would be classified as a feminist.

  4. Palin is a member of the Feminists for life group. She has said many times she is 'pro-woman, pro-child, and pro-life'. What is wrong with her mentioning that she is a mother and wife. Obama mentions many times that he is a father and a husband. It humanizes politicians and Palin is doing just that. She is trying to make voters empathize with her. She is a hunter, skier, and a mother. Palin is a feminist by her own admission. Feminists come in all beliefs, shapes, and backgrounds. A traditional woman wouldn't go into politics and definetely wouldn't be running for Vice President.

  5. No longer a definition for traditional. She seems to have a good head on her shoulder and should run for a Senate seat after her and McCain lose this election. Obama 08

  6. A Normal/Traditional woman.

  7. yeahhh agree with that

  8. Are those the only options?  Like most people, she is a mix of traits.  Palin is conservative that doesn't mean she isn't also a feminist.

  9. Ok, first of all, all speeches that politicians give, ARE WRITTEN BY SOMEONE ELSE!!

  10. Well a few things...her family has been attacked pretty hard by the media and other political speakers, bloggers etc...So some of that is countering attacks.

She is self proclaimed feminist.  She is a career mom, she is willing to be married to a SAHD.  She has an equal relationship with her husband. She is a have it all type of woman, has the successful career and the happy family, she is a beauty contestant and a hunter likes snow mobling...so she doesn't care about what is or isnt "girl stuff"......doesn't sounds like "traditionalism" as defined by GWS.

  11. No, because she is not staying home and taking care of her family like she should as a mother.

  12. She's a feminist.
