Is Sayoi of Memoirs of a Geisha a mixed race?

Sayoi has blue eyes. Blue eyes are trait of white people. Sayoi cannot be Asian!

Keep in mind it is a book, and a work of fiction based upon accounts of several real Geisha.  And of course the explanation in the book is that Sayuri has too much water in her personality, too much emotion, and therefore it comes out in her eyes.

Thats true, but keep in mind that Memoirs of a Geisha is fiction after all.

It's a fictional story. The eyes are symbolic of the "water" in her personality. She is fully Japanese.
