  1. Scotland is no different from anywhere else, it has its problems but there are countries around the world that has bigger problems than Scotland. There are no go areas in Glasgow but that's the same in all big cities.

  2. You can certainly be set upon for no good reason along the Clyde than elsewhere in Britain. There are old feuds and prejudices being enacted regularly that you can just fall victim to. There are all the hatreds of Northern Ireland plus some.

The middle-class does not walkout in the evening for very good reasons.

  3. yes

  4. you certainly wont need a stab proof vest because in greenock they shoot you

  5. No.  Scotland is really laid back.  Public transportation is decent.  Greenock is beautiful and the people are great!  There is a ferry boat that takes you to the other side of the Loch, to Dunoon.

  6. No more dangerous than anywhere else.  We also cannot carry guns, so in that respect it can be a lot safer than countries with liberal gun laws.

  7. Your friends are talking rubbish i live in Greenock its a

    beautiful place honestly

  8. there is more gangs in Scotland than the whole of new york per size of population. We are the friendliest people you could meet but I wouldn't recommend you go out alone at night time, I don't know Greenock that well but it seems a nice enough place compared to some areas, Glasgow and surrounding areas has a lot of problems with Asian and black people.

  9. Were all nice and cuddly.

Do you what a big XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX?

  10. Yes, if you are English.

  14. its the same as anywhere else, dont get involved and keep yourself to yourself.  a lot of violence in scotland is internal, gangs cliques et al.  but as a whole scotland is safe.  i was there for 6 months on my own and nobody bothered me. but then again i'm from belfast and once i opened my gob people knew i wasnt to be ****** with.

  15. You've got more to fear in London.  I don't see as many reports on the TV here about kids being murdered in Scotland.

  16. West is best on the river Clyde you will love it and do not listen to your friends there are bad parts and people all over the world Glasgow and down that coast friendly people and great places to go to and the scenery is lovely do not be scared as its not a scary place and you will enjoy also you will meet new friends and they will show you around some great pubs and restaurants here have a look Welcome to the West coast http://www.inverclyde.cn/

  17. scotland is as safe as anywhere else , the friendliest bunch on earth

  18. There is really no need at all for you to be scared of Scotland. I have live in Glasgow all my life and of course you will get the odd one or two dafties who think it's cool to drink and take drugs in excess and carry a weapon but they are the minority and you do get that in every major city in the UK. I'm sure you will be made to feel very welcome and enjoy yourself.

  19. As safe, if not safer than the rest of the UK - just be sensible and stay away from the dodgy crowds that are everywhere and you'll be fine. Greenock is OK - Port Glasgow is the town next to it and its not so nice but Greenock is absolutely fine and has some lovely parts to it. They are spending a lot of time and money regenerating the centre and there are a good few shops etc and an esplenade to walk along. Local amenities are good with some nice country parks and beaches within very easy reach. As is Glasgow which is the friendliest city in the world (Iam biased here!) - but has everything you need and more - shopping for example is considered the best in the UK outside London.

Forget what your ill informed friends say - I havent seen much about knife and gang crime in Greenock or anywhere else up here recently..

  20. Aww man! watch out for the neds crew with their buckie bottles!!

Honestly i was in the shopping mall a few weeks ago and it was hoaching with junkies and toothless mothers with 5 kids in tow...

Do you HAVE to move to Greenock?

My gran stays in Skelmorlie, its lovely, and Largs and West kilbride arent bad.

  21. in scotland folks are generally friendly and outgoing, but as in all socities there is a bad element, its usually drink fuelled,we dont know when to stop up here sometimes, theres a lot of chavs in scotland too, just silly wee boys n girls who think theyre hard cos they wear tracksuits and drink buckfast etc,but on the whole its really nice and friendly, people are ready to talk to you, give directions etc,and id say its mostly ok

  22. It is no more violent than any other city in the world.   The Scots are a friendly race, so dont listen to your friends who dont know what they are talking about.   Enjoy Greenock it is a nice place.

  23. Yes. ah live in glesga n am onli 15 n ah huv been stabbed twice. Scotland i a rough and dangerous place and i wouldn't get on a bad side of a scottish person. Naebudi wid actualli mess wif a scot!

  24. Yes and no. The rate of violent crime in Scotland is indeed one of the highest in Europe (and between 3 and 5 times that of England and Wales). And there was a police report recently that said there were the same number of gangs in Glasgow as in London (which when you consider that the population of London is twice that of the whole of Scotland...)...But how much of this concerns "outsiders", rather than those already involved in gangs or criminal activity, must be a matter of debate. So - be streetwise, and keep your eyes open, essentially. And be careful where you go, especially at night. (There are almost certainly more dangerous towns than Greenock near Glasgow)

At the same time, (and I don't know Greenock, although I do know Glasgow) Scotland can be an extraordinarily, extremely, friendly and welcoming country (and very beautiful, too)- with traditions and celebrations that don't have any real equivalent in England. So don't be unduly afraid - and don't try not to let it show if you are scared (without apparnet reason)- it will make it harder to fit in and feel at home.

  25. Everywhere's the same...Nobody seems to know about the Tower of Babel or the reason behind the Tower of Babel

  26. Scotland like everywhere else in today's world has its areas that are notorious for violence and crime. Scotland is a wonderful place full of fantastic people, very giving and generous and full of humor, dont let others scare you. Scotland is wonderful.

  27. Scotland is a safe place (as any place is), so dont ask silly questions, cause you are not moving to Iraq..

And the people are much friendlier then anywhere else.

I dont live there, but I wish...:-))
