Is Scott Burns a good choice as Collingwood's captain.?

To me it suggests a total lack of confidence in the middle bracket of players and that the potential choices such as Pendelbury are too young. Further suggesting a very oirdinary year for the pies.

a I think anyone ever seen Scott Burns put himself unselfishly under every pack of players when the going gets tough on the field in every game,and the way he always dealt with the opposition players in a polite sporty way and his manners in public ,"i can not recall a time when he was in the news or paper for any reason except to represent his team or complement a team mate for his efforts and encourage the younger players to keep the good work,,,,we can write a lot about how appropriate is this silent achiever for  a post he well and truly deserve and that would be the least that the club should give  to champion like Scott Burns . and yes he is the best of the candidates simply for his long term experience and unblemished record as a player and a person off field....

burns could be agood choice but now  many more season can play i think a younger player may have been better to have a good long crack at it

i go for collingwood and they have made the right choice with scott burns, cos nick maxwell might not b in the best 22 every week, josh fraser doesnt play enough high quality games in arow, and scott pendelbury might b to young at the moment but he seems to b the next in line now when scott burns gives the game away in 1,2 or 3 years then they will have a captain for the next 10 years in pendelbury, cos he is cool and calm around the packs with the ball

Scott Burns is a Club Icon and one of Norwoods Finest Exports. You couldn't get much more experience. I don't know who else you would go for as you said they are fairly young the rest of them. You wouldn't pick Rocca now would you he's the oldest other player I could think of.

I think he will be a good placement but i think if you are gonna retire in the next one to two years u should not be picked to be captain the same as the crows and carlton yea judd is good player but how long is he gonna last some one like Alan Didak or Pendelbury should be captain as they probely be around alot longer than other players

Doesnt matter what position on the field they play, its how they can lead the side into victory.

Burns has leadership qualities, is respected, has been at the club a long time, and is an excellent role model for the younger players.

think he is getting it for loyalty as much as anything, i like burns as a player, he's no superstar but as honest as they come.  no doubt he will only have the job for one season, then the next guy will be a long term captain i would think.

As a Collingwood supporter I have no problem with Scott Burns being captain, it his just reward for the years of service he has given our club. The second tier of players will get their chance and when they do I hope they will give it their all as I know Scott will.

I'm a Bomber fan and one of the features of the Anzac Day match for me is how Scott Burns leads by example - for the last few years he has helped to lead a very young though talented team.

Choosing a captain isn't all about being best player, but having that touch of the master that gives others confidence to do their best. Lovable though Rocca may be to pies fans, he doesn't have that quality.

So yeah, Burns is the best choice for captain this year
