Is Sehwag greater than Tendulkar?
Indian cricket over the years have produced tremendous talent at the international level. More importantly, their batting by far has been the highlight in the last two decades. Out of all their explosive batting potential over the years, the master blasting opening combination of veteran Sachin Tendulkar and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virender-Sehwag-c95429 has dominated the international arena for almost a decade.
Sehwag and Tendulkar are cricketers that need no introduction. They are dedicated players whose sole purpose is to disrupt any bowling attack of the world. On their day, they can beat any side with his wonderful display of batting. It would not be considered incorrect if one says that many of the matches won by the Indian cricket team are due to the outstanding performances put in by Sehwag and Sachin alone.
Sehwag is a right handed opening batsman who bowls occasional right arm off spin in the middle of the innings. The batsman is the only Indian to win the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World Award. With a batting average of 54.14 and a highest of 319 runs in an innings, his test cricket credentials are very impressive. In his One Day International (ODI) career, Sehwag has a batting average of 34.42 with 12 centuries to his name and a healthy aggregate of 92 wickets.  The right handed batting nightmare has won 18 man-of-the-match awards and has been crowned as the man-of-the- series on one occasion. As for test matches, he has been given the man-of-the-match award on eight occasions and man-of-the-series award on four times.
On the other hand, Tendulkar is considered to be the world’s best cricketer. He’s won many titles throughout his career and holds the record of the leading run scorer in ODI’s and test cricket. With a massive collection of 13,837 runs in the longer format of the game and more than 17,000 runs in ODI’s, the veteran batsman is yet to see any challenge from any other batsman. Sachin is the only cricketer in the history of One Day cricket who has scored a double century. Not only is he considered a good batsman by his followers and teammates, but players such as Don Bradman and Shane Warne admire his talent as well. Popularly known as the “Little Master Blaster” due to his obvious run scoring ability, Sachin has scored more than 90 centuries in international cricket so far.
Although Sehwag is one of the best cricketer’s in his own right but it would be wrong to compare him with the grandeur of Tendulkar. “Little Master Blaster” is a legend in the world of cricket. His fans are spread all around the world of various nationalities who consider him to be the best cricketer in the world due to his unmatched skills on the field. When Tendulkar comes to the field, opponents are unable to devise a strategy against him. It is then completely out of line to compare a cricketer like Tendulkar with Sehwag.
Whereas, the veteran might look to retire anytime soon, maybe before or definitely after the World Cup, Sehwag still has a long journey ahead of him. By looking at Sehwag’s credentials, he might be able to give some competition to Sachin Tendulkar later in his international career. And it would be interesting to see how http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s batting continues in the days ahead without the superstar they call Sachin Tendulkar.
