Or do hurricanes come?

I want to do some hour-building there, but I'm not getting straight answers about the weather.

Someone told me 365 days/ year good flying weather, but how about all those storms they get?

Another guy at a school didn't get back to me with my weather questions.

Thanks!

  1. Florida gets thunderstorms nearly every day and hurricane season runs (officially that is) from the beginning of June to the end of November.

So, is September in Florida a good time to build up hours for VFR flying? The answer is that it really is a hit and miss prospect.

  2. watch for them hurry canes.

  3. If you need to maintain VFR, and you live in Florida, I think your best bet would be December - March or April - June in the early morning hours. Summer afternoons are generally peppered with scattered thunderstorms.

  4. Its going to be wet , as in a lot of rain during that time. Try "winter" months.

  5. Florida is typically good for VFR flying, but make sure your instrument rated just in case the weather turned into VFR.

As Larry said, typically thunderstorms in Florida occur during the summer afternoons.
