Question:

Is Seven Weeks Grossly Inappropriate for Barry Hall considering his Past Record?

So I see people hating on Ben Cousins etc because they have taken drugs. Take a look at people like Barry Hall. They are common criminals. I mean he was going to be out for 4-6 weeks with a broken hand anyway. He has practically concussed a player who was not even fighting with him. This is the secret agenda of the AFL to promote its code in states that dont even give a **** about Football(Queensland and New South Wales). So much so that they chose to ruin West Coast as a force due to their supremacy as Arguably the Greatest Club in the past 25 years and definitely the Greatest Club of any Interstate Side.

In my Opinion Hall should never have played in the 2005 AFL Grand Final and tonight he should have got at least 10 Matches as that would be double his previous longest suspension. It only serves to remind us of the money crazed idiocy our great game has become.

  1. No, i think 7 is about right, i would of thought 6.  hate to of the seen the out cry if he had of broken his jaw.

our game is almost basketball, 20 years and it could be non-contact.  cant put an arm around a player, cant do anything, that sort of punch would of got 4 weeks tops 20 years back.

  2. Totally inappropriate.

How pathetic are the AFL with all their bleating about cleaning up the game etc. Some trips another; gives a soft love tap to the tummy; bumps someone marginally high & they get a few weeks.

Hall does something that can kill another & gets seven weeks.

How is this for being blatantly obvious? If Hall had received 6 weeks he would have been due to resume against - guess who, THE EAGLES! So they give him 7 weeks. Not 8 not 10 - but 7. How obvious is that???

  3. Poor Barry Hall he must be wondering why everyone is picking on him after all he is such a upstanding role model for kids to look up to and parents would love for their kids to grow up and emulate him.

The AFL are bunch of wusses for letting him get off so lightly.

I hope he plays the Eagles first game back and someone accidentally jumps on his foot and we will we see what punishment they get.

  4. Yup, agreed. The AFL needed to make an example out of Hall, even if another incident like this doesn't happen for a while

  5. Barry apologised, regrets his actions, pleaded guilty, copped his punishment, apologised again... give it a rest. I'm sure we all have misjudged a situation, made a mistake, whether were role models or not and what ever our annual salary!

Secret Agenda?!! Don't you have tags on!? I doubt they have have enough time to "ruin" a team when they're trying to build two new ones..

Anyhow Eagles seem to do a good job at demoralising themselves and embarrassing their supporters with rumours and drug overdoses and boozing with undesirables!

This clearly isn't the behaviour of a "Great" club and though they have proven to play some spectacular games and passages of footy, it doesn't prove "supremacy" over 15 other great teams, players and coaches!

And just remember YOU still watch the money crazed idiocy our great game has become and so do I and I love it ALL, good and bad, week in week out!

  6. Regardless of how the AFL deal with the Hall issue, he would have lost face with fans and his team players.

Baz would be better to go overseas and never be seen again.

What sort of a role model would this guy be to young guys thinking of playing footy.

If the AFL want to promote the game, they should get rid of thugs. This biffo would have been macho years ago, but players are now being paid big money for partaking in a team sport that attracts paying supporters who enjoy the thrill of watching class acts, not someone who has an obvious behavioural problem that has always been overlooked because, unfortunately it helps to win games

  7. boo hoo. Drugs are totally different. I'm not saying what baz did was right, but it is a contact sport and these things will happen from time to time. But a secret Afl agenda???? Well the cats out of the bag now isn't it???

Don't forget there was a wce player who got off aswell so they can play the gf. You are clearly an eagles supporter who has sour grapes from the 2005 grandfinal and the thumping you recieved on the weekend.

His wrist will take about 6-8. So hopefully he will come back firing and can work on bringing another flag to this great city.

  8. Another typical West Coast Whinger

7 weeks is still a heavy fine in AFL terms, and i think its fair.

If Barry is ready in 7 weeks anyway, given his wrist, it will be a surprise to me. That wrist injury will keep him out for at least 8 to 10.

  9. YES.. i agree with every thing you said

especially the part about leniency to states that don't give a s#!T

Hall is a thug, and they need to set an example of him

  10. he has not had a inncodent for 3 years, lets all get get over it and let the play! hes got 7 weeks now put your effort into supporting your team!

  11. i think 7 weeks is fair barry thinks  it is

  12. Ben Cousins had so many reasons as to why he started taking drugs and going all wacky. his best friend's wife left his best friend and then the day after Cousins and his friend met up cousins' best friend killed himself coz he didnt know how to cope with his life anymore. many people didnt know that becasue all they saw was Cousins and the big drug scandal. people should just leave Cousins alone. Hall, though, he deserves all the punishment he can get. people looked up to him and now hes caused so much pain towards his family, Stakers family, his team, WCE and the AFL. Hes just a stupid idiot for doing that.

  13. It's better than nothing...but i was thinking he should be out for the time he is injured and lso the the weeks he is suspended....otherwise it doesn't really make a difference apart from 1-2 weeks out from suspension....

  14. Yes, it is pathetic AND he should be charged for assault, if for no other reason than thousands of kids watched Hall punch someone while supposedly playing a sport...and those kids will think it is OK. Just because it happens on the footy field makes it no less of a crime. Hall is a hare's breath away from being a convicted criminal and should be booted permanently.

  15. How is taking drugs the same as punching someone in a football game? And Barry Hall has an excellent past record - no drug convictions or even being the last person to see someone  who od's on drugs straight after their visit. Seven weeks is what everyone is saying he should get. i think there are just people like yourself who are upset cos Sydney are better at AFL than their own team and state.

  16. Barry Hall got the appropriate sentence for the misdemeanor committed.  The weagles self destructed through poor player management.  The Swans are a far better side than the weagles and have a much longer and better tradition.
