Is Sevin insect killer a harsh product to use?

We have some ant mounds out in our yard and the ants are getting in our dogs food and driving us crazy! I went and bought Sevin liquid that you mix with water for my husband to spray the yard with and around the outside of the house. I'm pregnant (due any day now!) and didn't know if this stuff was too harsh to use. I mean it will be outside and I could leave for a few hours while he's spraying. What do you think?

It's insect killer. I think the name says it all.
