no, i think tokyopop is just a company that helps to sponsor some anime like initial d for instance

although they both publish the manga for the manga artist i would say shonen jump. because its more popular.

I hate TokyoPop with a passion. I have never and will never read TokyoPop. Why? Because many of the manga they sell were made by people not actually from Japan.

I have no problem with them selling Korean manwha, I actually like some manwha, but they also sell manga by Chinese, French, English, and Americans. Now it's nice for them to give an outlet for these types of artists but to me it's like them selling out, plus the quality suffers and the cultural background is different making the overall manga different.

I suppose Shonen Jump is probably the most popular publisher of manga, they are one the few manga mags to actually be able to sell subscriptions in the US (Shojo Jump is also in the US, less popular but done by the same people) and Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and Dragonball are some of the most popular manga/anime out there.
