I do not shop in Mexico at all.  If I want something unique, I buy a piece of pottery or a painting, but the jewelry is not much different than the US and is often not made in Mexico at all.  Many of the stores pay very high fees for rent and must pass that on to customers who think they are getting a deal in jewelry, watches and Cuban cigars.  Best to take pictures and go snorkeling or lay on a beach for fun.

Cozumel. Great shopping. the further you go from the waterfront the better the prices. You can also bargain with those shopkeepers. They expect it. All the expensive stores line the waterfront.

If you have time, take the ferry to Playa del Carmen. 40 minutes on the ferry. Cost about $11 dollars. Fun shopping on 5th Avenue.
